I had my avcr installed last week and since then have only had problems with my car.

it was running perfectly beforehand and never skipped a beat. the car has an ARC fmic, 3" exhaust, pod..the usual basics.

the car used too boost to 10psi with the full exhaust on and never had any troubles..was nice & quick.

now for the problems,

the boost was set on 10psi through the avcr because when they tried 2 go any higher it would start missing..was told to change the spark plugs.

whenever the car is pushed past 4k the boost would spike to 11psi and start missing.

when I filled up with fuel I worked out I lost approx 100kms of driving with the amount of fuel used. I instantly thought its hitting R&R.

so I have set the avcr to allow the actuator to control the boost until I get it fixed up. it stopped missing high in the rev range but now its started missing on idle.

opinions on what the problem/s is/are? plugs,coil packs, R&R??

also the avcr should be able to hold 10psi without spiking to 11psi right?

are u still running the std ecu?

honestly a could tune would fix it all up.

anythign u change to the car, uve changed how the car runs.

get it to a tuner, although it would be a big waste if ur planning more mods in the near future, slap everythign on 1st then get a tune.

yeah,I've got an safc ii installed and a sitc ready to go.

I als forgot to mention..the car isn't running rich with the boost on only 6psi but its missing on idle.

just looking for some ideas..I get what ur saying about getting it all tuned and then see

Take it back to the place where you had the AVCR fitted and get them to re-check their work, if it was running with no dramas before hand it has to be something to do with how they fitted it mainly the connections to your standard ecu, i have not had a huge amount to do with the avcr but i know it connects to the injector signal from the ecu (could be causing dramas) i also know that bad or bridged earths between ecu's and piggybacks can cause various issues.

Hey samantha,

I just wanted to know if you had the same problem as me. I got similar mods to you cooler and 10psi boost on my auto r34, and i recently noticed its a bit more lumpy wen its idling, maybe missing? I was wondering if you had any ideas wat it could be?

Also i wanted to ask ya if you moved your auto box cooler? im thinking of getting a bigger one and putting it in the same spot?

Thanks if you can help :(

Adrian

But i dont think the car is running rich as now that its running 10-11psi, it seems to be getting more km's per tank. does that seem normal for rb25's?

It seems to be idleing rough alot more after a spirited drive than after normal driving? Plugs and oil change have been done a few weeks ago..

Any ideas?

check your plugs and get back to us. what do they look like? is it possible to upload a pic?

also what kind of plugs are u using, and are they gapped correctly??

i had same problem, all it took was a simple regap. :(

Yea currently im running the BCPR7ES at standard gap, recommended by the tuner, but theyre only about 700Km~ old

Im not 100% but could it be maybe the timming belt on its way? the car is ~65 XXXkm showing on the odo, and not sure if its been replaced..

:/

    • Hang on. Let me get this straight. The desire is to have coilovers, BC in particular, to be MORE comfortable on Sydney roads than stock suspension? Well, that's obviously not right. BCs have crude damping design at the very best, and typically hard spring rates. BC stands for Billy Cart. And then, the desire is to put in some shitty old worn out stockers, to get it blue slipped and then put the BCs back in? And then.....what? Not worry about getting pulled up by the Plod? Because you seem to have raised a worry about paying for engineering (which actually does solve all your legality problems) and still getting pulled up.... but the only problem there is that if/when that happens you have to show your paperwork at the inspection station. Whereas, if you just swap in borrowed shitty old stockers to get it slipped now, and then you get defected in the future, you have to go find more shitty old stockers then too. You course of action looks like this set of options: Buy brand new stock type dampers, and springs. probably cost a bit more than $1k all up, but will last for the remaining life of the car. Put them in, pass inspection, drive on them forever more. Hell, they could even be really nice Bilsteins and Kings or other lower&stiffer springs if you wanted. Get the car engineered as is. ~$1k. Buy new Shockworks coilvers (or MCA) and also pay for engineering. You're spending a lot more here. But these will be the best things that you could drive around on.
    • Might be worthwhile hitting up Facebook's groups, I know most of them contain terrible people and scammers - however you might be able to find someone that's in Sydney with factory suspension you could purchase and/or hire. Just do not send any form of money anywhere, in person cash only.
    • Thanks @Duncan Ride height is fine. I think it's almost stock tbh. Happy to share a pic. I don't actually have a regular mechanic as haven't lived in Sydney too long. Could you or anyone recommend any shops in Sydney?
    • You just need a different blue slip shop (preferably one you regularly use as a mechanic), and make sure the coil overs are as close as possible to standard height
    • yeah the sugar refining companies were pushing for the same in Oz originally, all fuels were going to have 10% ethanol to make them "cheaper" (noting, that the loss in l/100 might be greater than the decrease in price). I guess they won that fight in Canadia
