which brings me to my next question - how would i go about wiring this to be used?

the wiring was cut and i have a custom front bar - so i don't have the orginal lights..

i hooked up the indicators no problem at all - standard wiring - but now i have no idea what i'm doing again..

one wire? hook it up to where? and then what? lol - this is killing me..

no dont use it

it goes somewhere else before it gets to the dash as there would normally be a relay for the oem fog lights. if you want fog lights just buy a narva kit with the relay and all and then use the instructions for wiring...

more than likely the relay will be in the engine bay along with all the other relays

test the blue wire for +ve power when you incar switch is on ... if you have power then the black is a common earth and just tap into that

yes but the thing is there is a special switch that is normally on the right of the steering colum that is for the fog lights. if your car has fog lights from the factory then the switch is there, if not then the wire should still be there just no switch, that is the trigger for the relay. and if you dont have factory fog lights, then there wont be a relay either...

ok then Frozenwaffles has given you the info you need.

if your car isnt a S2 that had fog lights - then you will need to setup a relay to supply power to what ever you are lighting up, trigger supplied from the new stalk that you will have to install and wire to the relay .

have fun :P

ok - i'll start from the beginning.. pretend i'm an idiot.. i have one wire - only one.. that's probably the part that's throwing me off the most.. what hooks up to where?

honestly - this stuff normally clicks.. but it doesn't matter how i work this in my head.. i just can't figure it out.. which is why i'm asking i guess.. :|

on that plug down in the engine bay, you have a positive (switched wire) for each of the lights being indicator and fog (the fog is the thikler one due to the increased current) and then a common ground or negative. very simple really. if you dont know this then take your car to an auto electrician...

and just when i thought i had it worked out..

i fell over at the very next step - i've got my relay - set it up - but to no avail..

does anybody know of a wiring diagram for this? i need to get this figured out before my holidays end :|

maybe my issue is with the switch :|

here's an image of the stalks i have - one with the fog switch - the other without..

ind-stalk.png

now - there's that extra plug (presumably to the fog lights switch) - where does that connect?

there should be a mating plug somewhere under the dash if you are using the factory loom and relay position...

it will probably be tied up...not just loose hanging around.

if you arnt using the factory wires and all you want to do use the switch, you will need to use a mutimeter to find out how the switch works and which wires are 'switched' if that makes sense...well it makes sense, more if you can understand...:D

anyway i hope you are going well and good luck...things sound a little shakey but im sure you'll work it all out.

just be careful....

my only Q from here is about that mating plug..

my car didn't come with the fog light switch on the stalk - i bought that from this forum and attached it.. so will the mating plug be there?

i have changed absolutely nothing else.. all factory (except the end plugs of course which were already cut)

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
