Unbolt the s/wheel off the boss/hub, check to see if the HICAS sensor shaft is poking through a plastic locater, thus when the s/wheel turns the shaft turns the sensor.

If not go to your local commercial rice supplier (in Vic it's Autobarn) and buy a HKB boss kit to suit a R33 with HICAS, about $80.

For my car R33 GTST (with hicas) part number: ON-177

Here is a Just Jap link, scroll half way down the page: http://www.justjap.com/parts_ninterior.htm

i have also heard that hicas sensors can just be dodgey after the years, so it may be something you cant fix unless you wanna get another sensor. We have just given up with flicks 32 as it randomly comes on and off.

hicas light is connected to a number of things. Power steering, speed sensors, steering wheel sensor and hicas.

Power steering - known issues like low fluid, or even leaking fluid from the cap which runs down the wires off of it and soaks the connections can set the light off...

Speed sensors - is the speedo working? Back of the dash sensor working? If your car as a faulty sensor it will drive 400m up the road and trip the steering into saftey "hicas mode" and the steering would go heavy with the light come on (had this one myself)

Steering wheel sensor - mentioned above

Hicas - Is it still working? Have u actually checked it is? I recommend a Tomei Hicas lock kit for a street driven car if u dont want Hicas anymore. It contains 2 brass small shims fitted to the power steering rack which go under the steering boots (hidden), and then the best part - a small black box that is wired into the hicas computer to keep it thinking everything is working with the hicas - basically keeps the hicas light off on the dash.

If u have thoroughly checked all 4 then your hicas light wont be on

For those that are not aware: ArenaGTR has an R33 GTR, thus oil levels and any oil related issues do not apply to an electronically controlled HICAS system.

Have you checked under the car, at the HICAS control unit? it could have been removed or it could be unplugged.

I would still check the s/wheel hub.

Have you ran a diagnostic on the ecu for error codes (never done one myself so you'll need to use the "search" button)

I would personally remove the HICAS unit, fit a HICAS lock bar, get a 4 wheel alignment and remove the bulb from the dash cluster. Problem solved :glare:

Nah, didn't have time to do any checks, cuz when I picked up the car from the docks I had to drive it straight to the compliance workshop, luckily when I was driving down there, cops spotted my car without number plates, but didn't pull me over, pheww....

but yeah, will definately do diagnostic check once I get my car back from the workshop ^^

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
