Hi ALL,

There must be a blitz on in Wollongong tonight. Saw probably 10 cars get pulled over in about 15kms then as I was heading home to avoid disaster it happened.

I was packing it so bad ...

I've just had the following done to my car:

*A turbo back zorst with a split dump and a fairly big cannon muffler on it (no way it would pass any test) = defect

*A pod filter which luckily I put in a fully enclosed heat shield and CAI = defect anyway

*Cross over style FMIC kit ( so there is a hole in chassis now) = defect

*A re-flash of the standard ecu. = defect if tested

^^ all the afore mentioned modifications didn't bother him in the slightest, the only thing that he was worried about was whether or not I had a atmospheric BOV ... which luckily I don't I've got the standard one back on there.

After going over my cars engine bay for quite a few minutes and some arse kissing on my behalf the fella that pulled me over let me off and told me to take my car straight home.

I really didn't like police all that much b4 but after 29t I think I might have had a change of heart.

Now to the point of this thread...

Anyone else get pulled over tonight for a random breath test in Wollongong??? :whistling:

Street-level crime and anti-social behaviour targeted during Operation Mega Vikings

Thursday, 14 Feb 2008 05:20am

New South Wales Police will start a three-day state-wide blitz at all 80 local area commands across the state cracking down on street-level crime, anti-social behaviour and public order management.

Operation Mega Vikings is an intelligence-driven high-visibility policing operation running continuously over three days starting at 8am today and ending 6am on Sunday, 17 February.

The operation will be conducted in two phases on each of the nominated days. During phase one officer’s will target fingerprint and DNA suspects, high-risk offenders, licensed premises and any associated anti-social behaviour.

The evening or second phase will target crime hotspots, licensed premises, public order, high-risk offenders, bail compliance and street-level criminals.

Deputy Commissioner, Field Operations, Dave Owens, said that considerable resources will be utilised during the co-ordinated high-visibility operation.

“This is also about reassuring the community police are serious about reducing crime and enabling people to get out and about and enjoy themselves without being subjected to people acting irresponsibly,” Deputy Commissioner Owens said.

“The message is quite simple: if you engage in criminal or anti-social behaviour, it will not be tolerated and you will be arrested, charged and put before the courts.

“Each Local Area Command will have specialist and general duties officers working around the clock over the next three days. These officers will be complemented by additional State and Commonwealth agencies,” Deputy Commissioner Owens said.

wow lucky kent lol how does an enclosed pod can be a defect? cos i have mine enclosed..so should be legal & how would the cop know if ur ecu is reflashed :S

I was lucky enough to be pulled over by an officer looking to buy a GTR so he pulled me over to ask a few questions on what to look for and what not, i asked him whats the deal with all the defect stuff and things like that, he told me that they employ heaps of ex mechanics and car lovers and put them on duty to look for unroadworthy vechles, there job is to fine you for anything not standard and then they a suppossed to send you to EPA where they do all the tests for standard computers and all the other crap that reams you up the A-hole.

they don't know by looking if you have a reflash but if they send you to an EPA test with the exhaust and the retune I doubt very much that it would easily pass...

I don't think a reflash is technically a defect anyway, I think the law says something like 'must be unable to easily modify the state of tune' for an after market ecu to be ok, its just wether the state of tune actually will pass an emissions test is all...

ohhh and an enclosed pod can be legal ... but it has to be engineered I think and generally your car won't pass EPA with a pod either

you can still modify your car and keep it legal ...

my plan is to take all of my newly fitted piping and stuff and paint it black to make it look stock & try to get all my stuff engineered if I can.

If that dude from ignition can get his 200 engineered and registered with all the shit he has done to his car then I should be able to get my car engineered.

i just got defected last night for air filter and a speedng ticket but the cop let me off for the BOV

he said that would be another 200 something fine and i acted dumb pretend i didnt know what a bov do (dont we all)

and he spend a good few minutes explaining it which i didnt even care less !! all i can think about is

how much is all these fines gona cost me... :P

ARGGHH! now i have to try and pull money out of my ass and pay for the stupid fines

sorry but they need more Police presence that way due to all the Wankers that loiter around the lighthouse area on weekends....All those morons who come down from Sydney and make a total ass of themselves... i even seen one moron stop a car with girls in it and then get in the back seat...imagine if that was your daughter or sister...F&cking morons

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
