today i had the intake pipe made up, the plumb back pipe was removed, and the oil line was blocked (the one to the inlet). AFM is still at the end of the intake pipe. i know they had to remove the cooler piping so they could fit it all on properly then they put it back on. i thought it could be a leak or something, but i couldnt seem to hear it anywhere.

there is also a winding noise on idle, not the intake, something else. it just started happening after i put the intake pipe on. but i doubt its from it, sounds like its comming from some where else.

when i slow down, if i put it to neutral and then press the brakes (to slow down) it stalls as it drops way past its idle and doesnt come back up.

what can be causing this problem?

thanks alot, issa.

rb20det, r32. atmo bov, full turbo back 3" exhaust, intake pipe, pod.

its becuase of the BOV, it releases all the air thats gone thorugh the AFM and teh ECU overfuels the motor. did you just put the atmo BOV on too? or did you make your stock one atmo?

nah the BOV was on there before, it just started happening 2day.

thanks, issa.

I am relatively new to this *skylines in general* but from reading some threads about atmo bovs, they can cause stalling!

Whoa way to slow lol.

maybe tap into the new intake pipe so that will have to 2 outlets as the stock one...try putting the stock rubber one back on and see if that fixes it, if it does then its something to do with the new intake pipe otherwise its something else to look into

I woulda said atmo bov too, but you say it was working fine before the new intake pipe was made up.

So second i ask, the strange noise isn't from your PCV system is it?... i assume thats the "oil line" you speak of? Is the motor sucking air through the PCV valve "leak"?

If your unsure how the OEM blow-by recirc is setup, or how to setup a oil / air separator, hit the search.

Hi mate

I assumed you blocked the oil line that goes straight up and leads out of the rocker cover. I have been told (if you dont have air breathers) this can cause excess pressure inside your engine and is not a wise move. Also a major EPA violation. Sorry to hijack the thread just thought you should know.

doesn't matter if the BOV was *apparently* working fine before you changed things.

Since you've changed the Intake, its probably changed the characteristics of the air flow to allow the BOV to cause stalling (ie allowing more airflow etc)

Block the BOV up and I bet it stops stalling.

When are people going to learn - These systems need to be sealed, thats how they are designed. You absolutely can't install a BOV because they are not meant to be there.

Come on Mafia, its not even 10am...

You know, i heard the mafia was created when the little children in Greece that mined the caves for sulphur (black powder) where robbed! 10yo robbed of thier precious yellow sulphur!

anyway, back to the "omg ma shits f_ckd" thread.

My $50 I-net dooolers is on PCV

lol come on, that was a nice reply.

But the thread starter should also check the IAC valave just in case.

I still think the better intake is allow for the BOV to cause bigger fluctuations in the air charge to cause stalling.

i already tried blocking the vac line so the bov stays closed, just made it flutter more :D

is this true? has anyone else heard of this.

thanks, issa.

Hahah, it was i guess :D

Iv a v.close mate who has a intake pipe made up for a S14. Aftermarket BOV, but still recirc... the new pipes location for the BOV recirc gave him skethyness on gear shifts.

Sure have, some retard called GeeTR mentioned somthing about that...

Like i said, learn how your PCV system works, and then trace your setup, make sure your not pressurizing your crankcase, or missing a one way valve in the PCV setup. Blocking cam breathers farks your motor, leaving em free farks EPA. Stock ingests through plenum one way on the over run, and ingests at turbo intake under boost.

If you dont like searching, i can spend the time to explain how it works

please do. thanks alot youve helped me understand quite abit more sofar.

i know how it recirculates the air, but i was anaware about the oil line untill yesterday. whats the best way to fix this problem, and keep my motor running sound.

thanks alot, issa.

When it comes to atmo BOV's you can never be quick enough!

Threads with stall in the title = flame on! :D

if you bothered to read, i said i had the bov on before and i didnt have this problem before.

I did bother to read it and just made a commentary about what normally happens on this forum when stalling or atmo bov's are mentioned. I have no opinion one way or the other. Perhaps you'll notice that I wasn't replying to your post, denoted by the quote in my post.

    • I havent bought a manual cover for the dash yet and no cluster change, won't bother me too much, I just need to get that auto box gone, manual in! I miss my manual. 🤪. We started last weekend and managed to get the box out. Planning to start putting it in this weekend and then order a single piece tail. We were super careful to take time and not damage anything. It's my first time working under the car.  With my S15 mainly worked in the bay. This time, it was a headache because of three or four bolts only. They simply didnt want to leave thei homr and the one securing the tailshaft, another above the GB, and the one securing the lipstick was a shit. Mates mate, Davo caught fire 🤣, nearly opened his chest up with a grinder 🤦🏽‍♂️ and both mates nearly had a plate from the box land and slit their head open. Fun times. We all survived. Not the easiest working with limited access on jackstands. As I'm sure we can agree these are the memories which make us love our car. For all three of us, was an awesome weekend and Sunday 3.30am before tools down was a fantastic effort. I need to upload pics, but looks like it needs to be via Url now. We used to be able to just upload pics back in the day. It's been that long! 🤪 Im currently spraying rustoleum under body, not because it's rusted. It's super clean, but just so it's protected for the next 10 years. There was a few surface rust spots. Which pretty much wiped off with a 3M scourer.  Really impressed with how well the previous owner maintained it. Bank account went down so quick! Service, then GB - managed to get a spanking new 34 genuine box from Nissan. All the rest of the conversion parts from Kudos.  Went with a Nismo short shifter. New pedals and Exedy Clutch and FW. Ordered the Prp Rear Main Retainer kit which should arrive Friday and my first engine mod part just like I did with my S15 will be the Tomei Expreme Turbo Outlet. Already on order. It'll likely sleep next to me on a pillow during the coming months. 🥰 Last build was on my JET200GT profile and on SAU and Hardtuned I had documented the build. Planning to try to do that again. Brands feel scarce now. Wish we still had ARC and Apexi parts readily available. Exhaust - need some advice on this. I had an Apexi exhaust on the S15 and loved the tone. My mate had a HKS HP Silent on his 33 and suggested I go with that to avoid drone. I can't remember hearing an RB25DET running that so will likely need to wait for a meet or something to hear it.  Not after big power, just enjoy building it, and drivability with minimal negative attention.
    • Have a chat with Ben at Moore Performance or Jesse at JS Performance.
    • Thanks both. All good advice. Reminds me of drilling through stone wall for drainage pipe 😬 I'll let you know how I get on if I still have use of my hands afterwards 😅
    • Finally got shipping number for the intake and throttle body, shipped by UPS, so "should" be in my hands sometime next week, fingers fracking crossed
    • I'm so far behind in the jobs I have to do at both work and home (including car) that I have become immortal. There's simply no way that I can die now.
