Hi after buying a Freshly rebuilt R32 GTR about six months ago i had an unfortunate thing happen to me when the oil pump failed after 800kms of driving which i was shattered about,

But finally this week my car will be ready to pick up. Its been a long six months for me but at least i have had the GTST and 180sx to keep me happy while its been away but none of them give me the feeling the R does.

I have fully rebuilt it again my mods include:

40 thou over CP Forged pistons

Rev Con Rods

ARP Stud Bolts

Linished and Balanced crank etc.

Race Bearings

N1 oil Pump

Jun Crank Collar

Tomei Sump Baffle

Tomei Oil Restrictor

External Oil Return mod from Head to Sump

R33 GTR N1 Turbos

ARC Radiator Guide

Os Giken cam Gears

Hks Dumpipes

4inch turbo back exhaust

Magic Cat

Denso 650cc Injectors (Not intalled Yet)

Bosch 044 Fuel Pump

Apexi Power Fc

Torque Split Controller

Blitz DSBC Id3 boost Controller

Greddy Oil Catch Can (Not Installed Yet)

Thats all i can think of at the moment but i know there is more.

I have a few questions for people that have been in the same boat than me..

Is there anything else that i should do when to it when i get it back this weekend?

And how long do i have to run it in for?

Does Anyone know if these Denso 650cc injectors are direct fit? if not are they going to be difficult to install?

What oil should i be using to run it in?

Thinking about going to racepace to get tuned since i have never heard a bad thing about racepace, How much do you think it will cost to get tuned?

Since the standard oil pump failed before now i am paranoid about reving it thats why i wanted to try and sort out all the bad oil problems that the GTR has. Is there anything else you would do to it to keep it reliable and keep it from happening again? or any advice?

Heres some pictures of my Engine Bay if anyone is interested...

thanks for all your help and look foward to seeing everyone at the next SAU event as im looking to use this car for track and street. Once again thanks everone

Exciting!

There's mixed stories about running cars in.. Most people say just baby it ( under 3k rpm for 1,000km) but, I've also read another article on how you should drive it as normal, boosting it etc because, it runs the rings or something something in I have no idea what I'm talking about and I've lost the article..

But the main point is that the article insisted on driving it as normal.

Yeah i think i will drive it normally and just not try to rev it to much and see how that goes, The only thing that annoys me are the r33 N1 turbos that will be restricting me!! I bought them when i first got the car and now they will be holding me back but im hoping to make close to 300rwkw on them i think a few other members have. So contemplating taking them off and putting some bigger ones on. But i havent driven it with them so i will have to wait and see.

looks the goods buddy, i no how excited u must be feeln.

although i havnt waited as much as u i 2 will be gettn my car back after a good 3-4 months.

it makes all that time waiting worth it sometime....haha

wat sorta power figur u expectn?

was the failed oil pump a n1 oil pump aswell?!?!? thought they were good for the rb26 rev limit, otherwise ur next step up is a JUN oil pump($2000+)

racepace is defiently a good decision buddy, the guys a god wen it comes to RB26s. give a call, although he does charge a premium price, his advice is golden.

The Oil pump that failed was standard so since i needed a new one thought i would get an N1 pump and yes i fitted a Jun crank collar. While the crank was out i wasn't going to take any shortcuts.

My mechanic said dont worry about the Head to Sump Return but i said for my own piece of mind i would like to do it, So i hassled him and we did it.

Yeah im flipping up between racepace and RE customs just trying to run the engine in ATM then i will have to get it booked it somewhere and fit the injectors at the same time. My only problem is i dont have a hand controller on the power fc to adjust the fuel settings when i fit them so trying to figure out some way around it.

I'm hoping for 300rwkw with these Turbos but already planning to change them by the end of the year and pump out alot more but for now i should be happy.

make sure you let us all know how the tune goes, i am looking at a car that has these turbos and i wold be interested to see what they make! The car i am looking at only runs 12psi and is making a bit over 230awkw...thats nice but i want to know what will happen at 18 - 20 psi

Yeah im interested myself i beleive a few people have made between 280rwkw - 300rwkw. So i will let you know shouldnt be to long. I so wish they were r34 N1's so i could make that bit more power.

Scotty,

The Bay looks the goods bud. Clear Cam cover does look gd. I will get around to doing mine. But who knows, we have to get some pics done together. Black & blue will look great at dusk.

Cheers justin i will have to come past your work one day soon, and we will go for a cruise.

clear cam covers a must, looks alot better than before.

Thanks everyone for your kind replys.

man that looks sweet! when will it all be ready by?

Car is back now so im just going to fit a couple more parts run it in and get it tuned, Then take it to the drags and see how it goes.

Then probably start looking for a different turbo setup still undecided whether to get some twin garrett 2860-5's or a Single T04Z!!

Decisions Decisions....

I would probably prefer to keep the twin setup so i dont get hassled by the police to much.

    • You Gregged a whole racetrack!?
    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
