::Edit:: Alrighty..Last night I opened up the boost sensor and gave the circuit board a look over. No loose solder floating around and nothing loose. I did notice a bit of build up around one of the earthing/power terminals which had caused a brownish/amber gunk that had crystalised and spread across a small portion of the board. It looked to touch two parts of a circuit so gave it a gentle scrape and clean and put it all back together. I've been for three drives since then just to test it out and try and get it to fault but it still working so for now I'll assume that whatever I did fixed it. I can all but assure you I'll be back in no time at all to say it was all bull and isn't working again...I hate electronics and it hates me!

Alrighty...I'll do the intro thing another time. I've met a few of before away from here and Im sure we'll get to the pleasantrys when they're due. For now though I need a little help.

Long story short. The boost readout on my MFD works intermittently and it's p*ssing me off! I don't drop boost at all just the output.

I've checked the hose to the boost receiver unit and that's in one piece. I've checked the electronic connections to the receiver and that looks good too. I'm thinking it's the receiver but if that was the case wouldn't my PFC have a spack attack not being able to read boost?

I'm still getting used to all the 'extras' on my car compared to my rather simple v-twin, NA, carb race bike...so easy to tinker with that comparitively.

Anyhow...I was hoping to see if I could try someones receiver unit for a quick drive to see if it still faults so I can start to eliminate causes. Not sure if the GTT one is the same as the GTR though...I'm guessing they are.

I'll be on the cruise on Sunday from Scarb so if someones willing to let me spend 5 mins swapping sensors over that would be great...

otherwise...other ideas/input would be welcome :-)

Cheers

Ahah! Another club to join. I have had the same problem. I borrowed another map sensor unit from an R34 GTT (I think) and mine was cleaned up a bit by Imports 101 (I can ask Danny what they did - I think they sent it to a local electronics shop, who re-soldered a loose widget). It then worked fine for 6 months and has just started doing it again. I have now borrowed a unit from an R33 GTR (all exactly the same part number) and it seems to be OK again. BUT today it appeared to stop for a while on the freeway, but I was a bit busy in traffic to confirm it.

I may be going for a new unit. Busy tomorrow, so probably won't make it to Scarborough, sorry.

Cheers. :D

So Im not going crazy!! Thanks for sharing!

I thought there HAD to be someone else in the world having this issue but I couldn't find anything anywhere about it. I cleaned up the terminals of the sensor and that didn't make a difference. I'll see if I can I do a swap with someone today to see if we share the same problem.

I'm looking at grabbing the NISMO Ver2 MFD board and sensors in the near future...

Its a bit of a worry that you've had the problem return after having had it fixed...i understand with the R34gtt one as it was resoldered....not promising if the R33 has gone haywire too... what could our cars be doing to cause this?.... a common hate for now being in Perth??

Interesting - sounds like the quality control on putting these things together got a bit patchy in the later years of producing them.

I will see how I go with the borrowed one from the R33.

Cheers. :D

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
