reality is... if these crapchips really really worked and were that great! they would be on everyones "first thing to do to my car list"

up to you.. buy it try it and tell us that it will probably do more harm than good. thats my bet anyway..

i even got one for free i wouldnt try it.

Lol yeah I know these things! It's just a resistor that gets put across your AFM output, lowering the signal. Basically it just runs the engine slightly richer.

so it will work??and be good for the engine?

yeah true wont get it but its cheap and looks efective but cant take the chance

before you do ANY kind of modding:

Read through the forum on all the related topics for 3 months, then you'd get a good idea of how things usually work, what parts needs changing when you change one thing or two things etc.

Don't selectively read things that you think are important e.g. how to make flutter noise or how to make my exhaust sound like a jet plane. Read each related topics thoroughly and then you'll know exactly what you need to mod for what you want the car to do.

We've all made the same mistakes before, especially when we are new to the scene.

Leaner. Richer make less power on a car that has a stock ECU.

so it will work??and be good for the engine?

It might work. It might not be bad for the engine.

However, its some generic off-the-shelf resistor that affects your AFM signal to the ECU and has probably never been tested on a car similar to yours, let alone the same. If it was tuned perfectly for your car then it'd be as good as an A'PEXi SAFC.

If it works badly it does nothing at all, or kills power while increasing fuel consumption. If it works really badly it leans out your mixture to a point where it starts to detonate and you break something.

you get what you pay for. do you honestly think a $20 chip has any testing or proven benefits associated with it?

if you don't have the money to modify the car properly from the start than don't bother doing it all as it just leads to more problems down the track.

It will modify any standard ECU by telling the ECU that the incoming air in the intake system is cold and so advances the ignition by up to 2 degrees with more fuelling to compensate, therefore producing more power with more torque at lower revs. In many cases fuel economy is increased too.

so... u put more fuel in and then fuel economy is increased... :P

ive missed something... lol

go to servo

buy chips

put in glovebox

drive car home

notice there is no difference when chips installed in car

park in driveway

eat chips

thank yourself that you didnt spend money to get piece of shit china crap off ebay

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
