good old clarkson,

i have one of his old videos(whats that?) where hes look for the best car in the world ever(so he says)

with richard burns(rip),and tim harvey. test ferrari, porsche, mitsi 3000gt,r33 skyline, and others

gtr eats every thing 1 second quicker fastest lap.

clarkson says fastest there but unexciting.

then says ferrai maranello(i think by memory) is best car

throught there and then clarkson has never put shit on a ferrari

must be sponsored by them or something. :)

Yeah he has given ferraris shit

I have his top 100 cars of all time at home, ok so the blue r34 GTR came in at 8th spot, now i cant remember off the top of my head but it maaaaaaay have been a yellow 355 ferrari he placed 50th because he said the front bumper and fender looked like ... the hamburglar or grimace from mc donalds??? will have to check it ouot but yeah a lot of the ferraris he did like but he did not speak to kindly of the yellow one ranked midway...

If you wanna know what clarkson thinks of Skylines maybe find a copy a copy of Jeremy Clackson Motorworld Japan. He drives a R32 GTR V-SPEC in it.

The Skyline is one of the best cars I have ever driven

Anyone notice the comments?

ell watd you expect tht he got kicked off in season 2 or 3. Cause he sucked so much. TBH the skyline had about 330hp, which is DAYUM for 2001. And no the engine was different, r34had a 2.5 litre engine, and the r33 nd r32 had 2.6 litre. Sometimes iwonder how he got chosen?

lol.

For some odd reason im lead to believe the R34 GTR had an RB26 producing 276bhp on paper? Anyone confirm this? LOL

watching the old top gear episodes on you tube its pretty easy to to see how the shows increasing success has changed the content.

You will be waiting a long time to see clackson compare a 10 year old tuned car against a new model these days.

At least we can look forward to watching the new 35gtr spank some euro ass.

i cant beleive there isn't a box set yet...

There never will be.

This question was brought up with some executive for Top Gear. Apparently its because of licensing to the soundtrack. You may have noticed how many different songs they use, and their original license for using the music covers them for TV broadcasts only.

If they were to provide a DVD they'd have to negotiate a new license the music and pay out new royalties, which would apparently make the DVD not economically viable.

That's why the only Top Gear DVDs are the Challenges, since the limited number of challenges means they don't have to try and re-license too many songs.

The way I see it, a Top Gear boxed set will be like that old HRT 427. The producers think that they couldn't price it to a point where people would buy it, but the people who would buy it like it so much they'd pay a lot more. If they charged AUD$45 for each DVD, and stuck it in a nice box with some other material I reckon fans would still buy it.

the original edits will have the soundtrack in layers and they could be replaced with other music if they wanted...

not to mention they could price it preeety high and people would still buy it

True, or just remove the soundtracks completely and just have the sound of the engines.

But then it wouldn't be what they released on TV. And their arty guys chose that music to go with that filming and those cars.

haha that is from Motorworld Japan. I didn't finish the quote because who cares if his arse was sore driving it, He still mentioned it was the best car he had ever driven at the time.

[edit] Looks like they cut the end of it out as well. He says it is one of the best cars he has ever driven but one of the worse he has ever sat in or something.

    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
