Its just started doing it... but when i put the key in and turn it on. instead of kicking over or turning over.. it makes like a tingy spinning sound. so i turn it off and try again and it kicks over good as gold.. any ideas what it could be

yeh my r33 gtst does it as well, like the noise is the same as normal, but it just wont start, and so i take the key out, then try it again, then it just starts normally lol

someone said it could be the alternator? but im not too sure

could b ur starter motor not engaging on the flywheel. not sure how hard they r 2 pull out but the sollinoid could b playing up occasionaly and not engaging the gear. is the motor turning over when it does this

thats what i was thinking, the starter motor.... the motor doesnt turn over no...

wonder how hard the starter motor is to replace

the sollinoids r the little can type thing on the starter motor. b4 u pull the starter motor out check all the connectors on the starter as 1 might have cum loose. if they r all tight pull the starter out and get a jumper pack and test it by puting the earth clamp on the housing where the bolts go through and touch the stud where the positive terminal is but dont leave it on 4 2 long as u can damage the starter and watch 2 c if the gear moves fowared and spins. but keep ur hand out of the road when doing this i have seen bad things hapen first hand from peps leaving their hand in the road. if u have a vice it will b a hell of a lot easier.

solonoid is the smaller cylinder next to the main starter motor body, up towards the firewall. usually helps if its on its way out or is jammed

if it sounds like its spinning, your SM bolts may have come loose and its not engaging the flywheel properly

or you've stripped some teeth off the gearset but 'overstarting' (you know that thing girls do to your car:) or something

Thats a weird one. Id say its deffinetly a starter issue but the way a starter works is the pull in solinoid circuit is powered up to engage the starter gear then at the same time once its pulled in it hits the bridge plate which actually conducts the high amperage current to the start motor itself. So basically what im saying is if the starter is running it means the pull in solinoid has to be working cuz its bridging the power to fire up the motor. Perhaps the gear mechanism itself is faulty and its not engaging all the time.

By the way Jmaac, you have obviously never removed and replaced a starter on a GTR...LOL its alot easier said than done. Very tricky to get onto the bolts.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
