dudes...

what we should do is import some blowtorches from China (my bro got them for AUD$140 and $80 postage), hook the switch to our car's alarm system, set it to minimum, so when a person sits in the driver's seat and try hot-wiring the pride and joy, he will get a bit of a scar to remember it by.

Two words. "Tactical. Nukes."

I always park next to expensive cars. 1) They'll get nicked first before I do; and 2) They won't go throwing their doors open.

:D

that's true. BUT if you go to marion on a busy day like yesterday, it make take ages before you find a more expensive car with free slot beside it! :thanks:

I thinking of getting a 350gt to enjoy but it seems like it's a thief magnet! :spam:

it'll be a daily driver parked in an open parking area (flinders uni) and I shudder to think that I have to wonder what is happening with my car every single time.

^^^ I disagree with that.

1). no-one knows what a V35 even is.

2). They are not turbo, so presumably as miserably slow as the 350Z, hence no fun to steal.

Get one anyway :D - they are a hot car, and if they were turbo I would own one right now myself.

bait car idea will never happen,

everyones been saying that for months.

oh and make sure to post up the location of the bait car so that the theifs can get on here and know where it is, we might have more advertisment and more luck of it being stolen then :D

Coz its stupid.

Sum1 will be left with their cars window broken and ignition busted.

Arrested for beating the scum senseless.

Sued by scum, bent over by cops + huge fine etc.

Also, cops wont do shit most of the time. Just give up on them.

My old man locked his keys in the V35 (duh I know!) and called the RAA out. The dude said that had NO documentation as to how to get into them and he had to wing it. After a while we nutted out a way in but it wasn't easy (no I won't post it on here) and he said it was definately one of the harder cars to break into.

Definitely get one however, AWESOME cars and sexy as. Chuck a turbo or two on while you are at it :D

im so sick of people keying, scratching, stealing, tossing shit at the car!!! Gosh!!!

most 350gt has the skyline word at the back. I suppose that's all what the thieves need to know.

try and keep the derogatory comments out of it, im sure we all have strong opinions about SAPOL, but they do read these forums and the last thing we need is to increase the reputation car enthusiasts have of being anti-authority.

I hardly think the cops are going to have a cry over my comments. And FYI I have a few friends and family members who are cops. They hate the job.

Wana come round with that baseball Roo? lol

PS Nene said she would be happy to take you up on your offer of borrowing the RS4.....she said she will take real good care of it!

Sure Ben. You supply the baseball bat, I'll bring my little "items"

The offer is seriously there for Nene to drive my Stag while the GTR is fixed. I shoulda mentioned something last night to you guys ... but you know how those group gatherings go! LOL

Catch you later today Ben (we're going to paintball your ass). I'm taking the RS4 to Everlast now. :P

shyt i just read this n damn Y??

hope u get it all fixed soon ben. how much u sell it for??

and ruby let me know im up for sum criminal style basebal lol haha

wat about sum golf and the thieves can supply the golf balls haha

As for the usual comments of why was it on the driveway...well lets see....4 cars, 2 undercover car parking spaces...hows that math work for ya? As arrogant as it may seem to say, the GTR is one of the two cheaper ones that get chosen to sit outside, and as i said, it, and all the others have alarms.

I hear ya Ben and I know the limits you have at your place.

Same with my MV Agusta Brutale as you know. My Italian F4 bike is worth more than my cars, so guess which one gets the spot in the garage ... especially when my insurance is specific on that part. :D As much as I love my cars too, the highest capital investment gets priority. And its alot easier to steal a bike than a car.

BTW: when can I come over and we'll fit the Ohlins coilovers to the Stag :D

Yeah, it'll be fun. I don't care much that people label this action "vigilante". I'm old-school, so whatever gets the job done is good for me. I can look after myself more than well enough, so I've got more confidence in a situation that most. I grew up in a rough area and worked in a rough area, so I'm used to shocking violence too. If word gets around that owners are fighting back, I hope that'll deter the thieves. I'm not relying upon the legal system to do its job, so you're a fool if you do too.

Its all about protecting our rides. No one comes to my party without an invite. So if you come trying to play with my toys, the party will be on you!

There will be no pre-determined night or car or location for the bait, but it will happen and we'll flush them out and have some fun. We'll bait out our 'definite' car thief, not some innocent, and we'll think about handing over whats left to the cops.

Everyones always saying 'If ya can't afford the insurance, alarm and so forth, don't buy the car', well if you don't have the space at ya house, why have so many car's/bikes? Keep one or a few at a mates house that has space behind gates/garage door?

Funny enough you mention part b) and c) there...second and third. Last time i reported my car stolen (found it myself the next day!!) the police told me to firstly do what i must if i caught the low lifes and then call them  It's better than using the items under my bed with the gunpowder if you get my drift ;)

My car is also parked outside, unfortuntely can't help it...but since having the pager alarm for some odd reason the car hasn't even been touched!

Another person generalising

"Why have so many cars/bikes"? Because I can. Last year I had a big house with a big garage and a decent backyard. The divorce took all that away from me, but I managed to keep my toys. Most guys do not get that luxury. I now live in a location that doesn't have much capacity for many vehicles, but they're all insured and secured in some way. Once I clean out the garage of the crap in boxes from my divorce, then I'll have more room to accommodate one more car.

If you can't afford the insurance etc, then don't buy the car. That statement is true. Because if it does get nicked, you're financially covered. All my toys are insured and secured in some form. So long as I do that, who's going to stop me from owning so many cars/bikes? :bunny:

Well don't come complaining on the forums when/if one of them gets stolen/borken into..!

I'd be investing in a 7ft wall/fence with a lockable gate.

    • perhaps i should have mentioned, I plugged the unit in before i handed over to the electronics repair shop to see what damaged had been caused and the unit worked (ac controls, rear demister etc) bar the lights behind the lcd. i would assume that the diode was only to control lighting and didnt harm anything else i got the unit back from the electronics repair shop and all is well (to a point). The lights are back on and ac controls are working. im still paranoid as i beleive the repairer just put in any zener diode he could find and admitted asking chatgpt if its compatible   i do however have another issue... sometimes when i turn the ignition on, the climate control unit now goes through a diagnostics procedure which normally occurs when you disconnect and reconnect but this may be due to the below   to top everything off, and feel free to shoot me as im just about to do it myself anyway, while i was checking the newly repaired board by plugging in the climate control unit bare without the housing, i believe i may have shorted it on the headunit surround. Climate control unit still works but now the keyless entry doesnt work along with the dome light not turning on when you open the door. to add to this tricky situation, when you start the car and remove the key ( i have a turbo timer so car remains on) the keyless entry works. the dome light also works when you switch to the on position. fuses were checked and all ok ive deduced that the short somehow has messed with the smart entry control module as that is what controls the keyless entry and dome light on door opening   you guys wouldnt happen to have any experience with that topic lmao... im only laughing as its all i can do right now my self diagnosed adhd always gets me in a situation as i have no patience and want to get everything done in shortest amount of time as possible often ignoring crucial steps such as disconnecting battery when stuffing around with electronics or even placing a simple rag over the metallic headunit surround when placing a live pcb board on top of it   FML
    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
