If you're changing the cam gears, I'm sure you'd change the timing belt why you're at it...

100% Agree.

Phatboy, if the car is tidy and you're happy with it once you have had it inspected, buy it. Going by the engine bay, it looks rather tidy. If that is a representation on the condition of the car, then I'm sure you have very little to worry about.

If you are happy with the car once you have had an inspection, buy it. Don't let teh Interweb Nazis dictate your decision.

Hahaha couldn't agree more. Steering wheel, gear knob and seat wear and THE biggest tell tale signs of a cars age but, imagine this as crazy as it may sound, a Japanese man, perhaps like someone you know.....enjoys his car and drives it often....pwoah! :D Just imagine!

I'm no expert but I don't believe driving a car "hard" would cause wheel bearing issues. Could be wrong though.

Got any more info on the car? Pics, links etc?

Ok,what you read in the magazine is correct....Ive had the R34 gtr apart to a bare shell, ive had the bonnet's open on most of the computers that are in the car, reprogrammed the anti theft box's on about 5 car's due to lost keys and could tell you what every wire in the car does and what colour it is.....the mags must be right

Yes if you change your cluster the km reading will display what is stored in the cluster, so a new cluster will show 0 km.

I agree with that.

The magazine also stated that a km reading can be extracted from the ecu.

But if you have re-programmed an R34 ecu, and know what every single bit does in it's programming, i'm happy to accept that you know more than everyone else :).

Ok point made.

I will try to get the factory ECU. Only thing is, how do you know when he changed to an aftermarket ECU if the owner bought it like that?

The factory ECU could have been changed 5 years ago, and you wouldn't know how many genuine km's he's done after that.

But I will keep it in mind, thanks.
