Come on, Paul. You know you wanna give up and spend the day just watching and cheering on all us little people in the reserve grades! :D

right...the silver cars diff is in and running...the ecu is in and not running.

the black car is ready but may need to lend the silver one some bits...

up bright and early big day ahead...

Bracket racing..hehe..a few experienced boys at my last bracket meet were put on the trailer early by a novice in a pretty little silver riceburner.

Marks runs were:

10.6

8.1 w/ 1.32sec 60ft

10.7 w/ 1.23 60ft

8.07 @ 171mph w/ 1.25sec 60ft

Had the track have been 10c warmer and the surface prep been better the car would have run a comfortable 7.9 possibly even a high 7.8sec pass.

Videos were taken, im sure they will be posted sometime tomorrow.

good to see mark finally taking some weight out of the car!

a 1.23 sixty with Mark's usual MPH is a 7.8x pass. Car sounded nuts all weekend!

and a 3.3 to the 330 was big too. Unfortunately the track past the 330 was lacking as it was from this point onwards the car was out of shape. Spinning the rears in top gear to 170MPH and no lift off from throttle when we checked the MoTeC data...i don't know if that was brave or silly...but it was worth it.

Big thanks from all the GMS crew to Benm for supplying and operating the recovery vehicle for us all day.

I was going to ask if that was Bens shaggon waggon

its currently doing deliveries in the sydney metro area proudly displaying its Godzilla Motorsport livery.

News on our car...

Got diff in and running friday....put Autronic in and had a few problems getting it running. Finally got it sorted late Saturday afternoon and tuned. The ATTESSA ecu was not recieving the correct signals from the Autronic to run the 4WD. We tried bridging over a TPS signal and lost the bloody tune!! The Autronic went bonkers and took an hour to recover it. Mark retuned the car in about an hour and by midnight had it running and making good power. We again got out the wiring diagrams and found that the earlier bridge we ran was on the wrong pin...bugger. Got the TPS signal to the ATTESSA and the 4WD came alive. However the output was making the TPS ecu input unstable and we decided at 2.30am to pack it up and concentrate our efforts on Marks car. Deciding that running the car while not 100% was not worth risking the chance of damaging it...so yes with only a few hours sleep that night we rocked up and set a new Aussie GTR record.

According to my mate in the white swift who was racing Mark it was forking awesome! He was nearly as excited about the GTR going past him like he was standing still as he was his 12.88.

I'll post the footage tonite. It's pretty funny to see the camera focused on the street-tyred Swift and then this black thing just screams past it out of nowhere taking up all the track and then some as it disappears into the distance.

can you please ring him and thank him, as if it wasnt for him agreeing to the lane swap the 8.0 would not have happened. I was doing 2rismo stlye organising behind the staging lanes as the official behind the tower would not allow us into the lane we wanted.

He mentioned that he'd agreed to swap lanes and I told him that having run an 8.0, Mark would be very appreciative. He's a good guy, young Paulie. He'll be king of the kids in GTi land.

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!
    • http://calfinn.com.au/product/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c   I have this and fits under a S3 33 GTR with no issues. Purchased in 2009 and not one issue. It was $950 back then. Not cheap but something so important isn’t worth cheaping out on.
    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
