Put the nut back on a few threads, cos when it comes off, your going to have two black eyes. Grab a mallet and hit the wheel around the edge to knock it out. You'll know when it comes off cos the nut will stop it from flying off. Do a search to find a more detailed decription. Just make sure you wheels are straight, otherwise you'll have a crooked wheel, and thats not good. Trust me, I know :P. And make sure ur new boss kit has HICAS, otherwise you'll have no steering. Good luck!

+1 on the hicas part, i bought two, one non hicas (i thought it would work perfectly) then i bought a hicas one. so much better with the hicas one.

Whyte has an awesome write up on NS.com give it a try, its not that hard.

goodluck champ.

oh well i've taken it out, but the new one doesn't looks straight while i was driving. is that the alignment problem?

thats the fun part, doing 200000000milion happy laps to get it straight, what you do is put the steering wheel on the boss kit, and then put it to where you think will be straight (leave the horn button off) and then just put the main nut back on just so its not loose (not tight) then try and drive straight, take it off and adjust accordingly, took me a few goes to get it right. once its right tighten the boss kit on, then take just the wheel off put your horn button in and put it all back together. done.

goodluck, issa.

Mate, why didnt u tell me this BEFORE I put it on!! My boss kit is stuck on, and I cant take it off! And I'm not going to hit my new MOMO steering wheel with a hammer!!

Try getting a bearing puller. Thats what I'm going to try and do. Hopefully it works!

just use something to knock out the sterring that lock on the boss kit , loose the main nut not taken it out for just incase if the sterring drop off suddenly. i don't have mallet so i just use my sterring lock to do it haha.

and it works!!

lol, i posted as soon as i saw it. glue on the boss kit??? its just on there tight, i doubt its glued. if its good quality it wont get wrecked if you whack it a few times  lol. just wrap a towel around a clublock or something and hit it a few good times to loosen up the boss kit, butt it off (with the wheel still attached, guesstimate it then put it back on and just so nut is on there and you cant pull it off, not tight untill you get it right.

the main thing is not about damaging the steering wheel, but its about not stuffing the teeth on the boss kit or the steering coloumn.

Who said glue?

I got it off today, I loosened off the nut, but kept the wheel on, and just started to pull it from side to side, took about 5 mins and it came off. Now its on straight, the horn works, and everything is fine!! So glad I've fixed it, the unstraight wheel was embarrising, and the lack of a horn was just annoying!!

    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
