JP80
as i drove home from Bunbury today i was stopped at a police road block, not much to worry about i thought as i hadn't been drinking three police then approached the car, told me to pull over, to pop the hood and to stay in the car i watched them yank on all sorts of bits and pieces (they knew nothing about) mainly my pod filter after a few minutes of that and kicking my already taped front bar (damn rabbits) they started asking random questions "do you have a permit for the strut bar?" "you do realise your front is broken and taped?" "do you know the legal height for cars in WA?" "did you know your pod filter is loose... and long?" ...and so on. i just said to them: "look, the car was imported no more than like 3 years ago, i haven't changed anything since, it was put over the pits and consigned ON import and at that time i had to pay for a few things that needed to be changed, so surely if anything was wrong it would've been seen to then" an older officer told a younger officer to leave me be, but not before he shot off a "just be thankful we were packing up anyways" i am not against them checking up on rides and their mods, sure it kills a lot of peoples fun, but it IS the law by being polite and agreeable i feel as though i certainly dodged a yellow sticker is this the way it's going to be from here on in? do i have to explain ride heights and such to police endlessly? even though their cruiser looks lower than my car anyways or even, is there somewhere i can read up on this stuff, so that next time i can argue with a clear head knowing that my first trip over the pits was enough BTW this IS actually a request for help, not just a whine session so any advice would be greatly appreciated Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/216532-sw-police/ Share on other sites

NISZILA
You did the right thing by being friendly and polite to them. As soon as you want to get annoyed, they will start will checking everything just to find anything to sticker you for. You can read up on a lot of stuff. You can also go to the pits and ask them for a pamflet with all the regulations. I got one a while back. It tells you everything in there and is very useful. Its good to be informed on the do's and don'ts. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/216532-sw-police/#findComment-3824101 Share on other sites
black_gtst
i agree, so many people think they are better than the law and at the end of the day the cops are the ones who can give your arse a reaming not the other way around. the couple of times i have been pulled up i have been polite and friendly towards the cop. they realise your not a little toss thats going to get round the corner and "hoooon"! and they let you off. little comments like "how do you find the new commodore to drive?" etc (if thats what they are in). not saying this is the way it always happens but just the way i act if and when i get pulled up or breath tested. brett Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/216532-sw-police/#findComment-3824166 Share on other sites
inthisglass
i have used the same excuse a couple times and its worked "bought the car form over east, past the pits with all the mods it has on it" they usually mumble and let you go Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/216532-sw-police/#findComment-3824675 Share on other sites
GR33 vous
I drive to Bunbury quite often, I've personally never had any trouble and have been pulled over a couple of times but I have noticed there are alot of cars with yellow stickers driving around down there so either the police are strict or there are alot "hoons" down there. R31 POWER
Thats true bart I excaped a sticker, they tried their little hearts out to give me one haha. ''These tyres are feathered, you've been doing burnouts!'' I said - Yes i have, at the motorplex (wich i had) Look up in the guards mate, there's heaps of rubber up there. The tyres were'nt feathered anyway LOL ''Pop the bonnet sir, got permits for all this?'' I gave them my permit paper work, problem solved. ''Your tint looks dark, i will have to test that'' About 5mins later they got the tint tester dropped off from the cop shop, they tested it and it was fine. I told them it was fine because, i pulled the old tint off for being to dark. Still makes me laugh. The right attitude helps when pulled over Oh so true Bart lol. Plus the idiots on the roads down here that give us all a bad name. Like the dumb P-plater in a crappy looking black silvia that raced up behind me on Blair Street, pulled up beside me, dropped a gear and roared off at about 90 and weaved in and out of traffic without indicating As if his Silvia would have a chance up against my GTR. I guess some people just need to grow up Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/216532-sw-police/#findComment-3833645 Share on other sites
342Four
how open ended is this in regards to exhaust modifications: Noise level will be the most important factor in assessing any exhaust system. Close attention will be given to this factor during examinations and in the on-road situation.
