Gauges?

well i replaced my black gauges in my dash with white ones. but now some are either not working or not accurate..( torque split-fine, fuel-fine, speedo out?, tacho-does what ever it wants?, oil pressure-not accurate, temp-not reading at all

i was very careful when changing but yeh clearly not enough, any 1 know how to fix or any 1 on here that lives in brisbane that can fix or know of some1 i can get to fix? any help would be great

Can you get a pic of what you're talking about? When you say black gauges with white ones, nothing pops up in my head.

Just any pics from eBay or something. haha

i mean i replaced the actual dials.. with these white style ones

did you just glue them over the top of your old dials? cause when i did it to a mates car, the one for the tacho was raised like a mm and so the tacho wouldnt work because it was rubbing up against the actual dials and couldn't move anywhere. so i had to file the needle back a little bit just near the bit where it turns and then it worked ok-ish. a week later, the colour shitted him so took them out

With those, don't you just open up your cluster, take off the needles, then stick these on? Nothing to do with the gauges themselves?

When I opened up my cluster (in the ke70), it was a pain the arse to get the needle back to the position it was in originally. You press the needle in to get it tight then it was just move too much. Giving you an inaccurate reading. Could your problem be similar to this or?

When you say that the tacho does whatever it wants, you mean it jumps around from one rev to the next? Not smooth?

i had same problem like a year ago, i tried gluing them in but, the tacho needle would get stuck on like 3 grand, then i got to 5 and a half it got stuck again. it gave me the shits cause no matter what i tried it always happened, so i just took them out and still got them a year later. oh well. and i dont think you should have to take needles off, they do slide over with a bit of force..

but filing the needle might work, might give that a try

hey there buddy... well i tried something like this a while back for my 32 ended up stuffing it up....

you must of bent the needles when u pulled them out. thats why there not working properly or not working at all....

another reason could be is that when u put the needles back in u pushed them in to far, that stops the needle from moving...

try adjusting the needles when the car is on and reving the engine to see if u can get the needle right

worst case scenario is you have to buy a new cluster.

hey, i never glued them in or put them over the original ones, i unscrewed the originals and screwed in the white ones. and what i mean by the tacho doing whatever it wants i mean that whilst driving it will bounce around and even off the tacho completely then back again and when the car is turned off the needle still sits on like a grand.

im also come to discover that my speedo is approx 10km out - if it says 70 im doing 60...

as said above the only thing i could think of was that i bent them.. i was extremely careful too... dammit..

i was just hopin there was someone that i can take it too and they just fix it... nothings easy..

you may be better off just getting a new cluster? you can take it to a mechanic to re-calibrate the speedo. it cost me a shitload when i had to do mine. as for the tacho, never ever seen that before
