Dump pipe question

This may be a stupid question so go easy on me pls.

Which type of dump pipe is better?

* 3 inch pipe (wastegate vents out the main pipe)

OR

* Pipe with separate pipe/tube/channel (whatever) for wastegate gases?

Is there much of a difference?

Anyone know of a place in Sydney that sells cheap?

its all the same i guess LOL as longs as its big and long its all good .. batmbl has very good prices and i'm going to get some maybe next week

i already got 1. for the price it isnt worth spending heaps when i doubt there would be any advantage. buy one off btmbl... they are nice

There is a difference coz with 1 big outlet once the wastegate opens it causes air turbulance in the pipe. Same reason with big hp turbos u have external gate

i cant really see the advantage of spending 300 more on the same item which has a slightly better design if the performance isnt going to reward the price , but thats just me

I think the separate wastegate pipe is slightly better, but not worth paying much extra for.

u can get the dump pipe with seperate wastegate pipe for $300 new!

how does that turbulance affect the performance?

u wont get as much boost spikes and turbo will spool alot better

i heard that with the seperate wastegate pipe joining back into the main front stream causes a vacuum to occur, hence closing the wastegate and the opposite to boost spike occurs... no boost.

I read it in several places on the net.. not sure what to believe.

yeah, when i talk about dump pipes i also include the front pipe as well in the cost so its a little more....oh well

hearing crap on the net and reality are 2 different things! How exactly does it cause a vacuum??

Does it really matter what you have up front anyway, if part of the system is not 3 inch?

your exhaust is as big as its smallest section (biggest restriction)

Q: if i went to anexhaust shop and said "i want a 3" dump/front pipe in one piece" and they took mine off and shaped pipe to that shape to fit it, then how much would you guys think it would cost?

it would cost alot to get the new pipe lser cut and to enter all the data into the laser cutter! Go to a place that has done it before.

I am presently making my own engine pipe as from past experiance split pipes work beter. will have a jig made in the next two weeks and fitting the pipe to my car, presently getting 123 rwkw out of r32gtst auto so would be interested in the result. if they work as i think they do will be selling them for $450 from turbo to cat in 3 inch

i really can't see why there is a difference .. i mean its all a big pipe ... whether its made from 2 peices or 1 ... i still can't see how there can be differences ..
