INASNT, Hey, if somebody wants to be a fool then not take resposibility for their actions, I wouldn't want their help. I bet I'm not alone thinking what I do, just the others don't have the bollocks to say something. Also, this is not a case of "Estimated speed" is it, so "fighting the system" is a little redundant here..

If I needed legal help, I'd ask a lawyer, not a car forum anyway.

I refuse to support someone who wishes go to court on a completely frivolous basis to try and get off when they f#cked up and they know it.

I don't give a shit what other people think, its just my opinion.

You want advice SiksII? If you are going to do this, prepare to pay a lot for a lawyer , and don't be too disappointed if you come out of the courtroom owing 1559+lawyers fee+ court fee, and with your suspension intact. I really doubt you'd have much chance given the political climate surrounding hoons, speed, and the road toll. But I'm thinking now, give it a go, a fool and his money are easily parted- be it by a fine, or by a lawyers fee.

cheers,

floody

INASNT,

I have to say you guys must have some real dopey cops them. My brother's in law and sister in law are all cops, and two have quite hardcore science degrees, and the other left a job as the manager of a small center to join the cops as soon as she was able to.

Given only one of them is now on the street (the others have advanced to senior positions), but your education comment is completely up the creek.

I'd say more people on this group suffer from a lack of education than the majority of cops, it actually requires some to become a cop. Some of them just become crazed after they join, power mad, disillusioned with the lack of support from the courts and so on.

Knowing how some losers treat the police, it's no wonder at all that they dish a bit back out randomly when they can. It's a vicious circle.

I have been busted way too many times, and numerous times for piss weak reasons (running an orange light, noise pollution for chirping my wheels from the lights, changing lanes too quickly and so on), and I have never once been let off when I have been pulled over, it's straight out with the book. You are barking up the wrong tree with the cops though, the courts and the politicians are the pricks who do such a poor job that everyone suffers, cops, and the rest of us alike. The real criminals get away with murder, so the cops are content to do whatever they can directly because there is no point doing the real job when they know 100's of hours of work ends up with a slap on the wrist for the real evil guy.

i agree, its easier to defent a murder case these days than a speeding case

hey guys. i usually just read the forums silently, but the stupidity of this post makes my blood boil.

mate, you know you did wrong. the judge cops etc don't owe you any favours. you had a choice

i have lost my license before as well, im not perfect and maybe i'll even get done again. but that kind of speed in a residential zone ?? wtf is goin on mate. im 23 and have a 3 year old daughter. my mates little girl was the same age when she was killed by a speeding driver. he saw the whole thing happen. what if it was one of your family frinds etc. i'm not trying to say anythin about speed as it isnt speed that kills. stupid/wreckless driving is the killer. and it's nothing to do with the car either. the driver is soley responsible.

as for revenue raising - yes it is and good on them. dont bitch about it. better fools who speed etc pay for roads then other tax payers who allready pay enough.

i hope you loose mate, it's not powerful cars on the road that should be banned it's dikwits like yourself. nothing against you mate personnally - i dont know you. but trust me you will look back in a few years and go **** i was stupid.

The fact of the matter is, no one can judge whether or not it was safe for him to go 100kph in that 50 zone. Just because the sign says 50 doesn't mean it's not safe to go faster. The same as if the sign says 100 does not mean it's safe to go 100. All of you judgemental people seem to think that the signpost makes a better judgement call than a human. Now, the law is the law and there is a lot that you can argue about there as to whether it is right or wrong. But to just label him as a dickhead without having witnessed the circumstances of the incident is just stupid.

You know I'm the last person to be on the side of "th' man" but come on... 106 in a 50 zone???

That's beyond what most people will call "advisable". The courts will not look upon this favourably.

I suggest you don't take this to court as they'll most likely increase the fine and penalty.

T.

esprit my brother 18 years old got done on the highway doing 174Klms and DUI.

You will goto court it'll probably take 2 weeks to get seen too.

You can take a court lawer or not up to you.

My brother got 6 months suspension of lic and $680 fine.

At your age and because you havn't had any previous DUIs, all you can really expect is to get out of doing communtinty service, and a fine around $500 $600 bucks, and a suspension of lic for 3 to 6 months.

It'll purely depend on the judge at the time, some are easy some are really hard, some are a bit of both...

You really only goto court if you really require your lic for work or something else that's important.

That was in QLD.

As to the guy in Sydney, you'll be F**ked anyway.

You'll lose your lic for some time, anyway, you might get the fine reduced but I'd say that's about it.

You'll just have to hope your good in court or can think quick to say the right things because you could just very well screw it all up, and the fine and time goes up or the lic is stopped completely.

The reason is that your've run a red light this won't be looked on as a good thing, and yes they do check up on your complete piror driving history.

It is hot in here.

It may have been a residential zone, but if you read my post carefuly, i stated that its not residential as in houses with front yards and kids everywhere.

Fair enough you have made up your mind about me, but you neeed to know the road to make a final judgement. I can take a photo and post it here, the people who have said my speed in a residential zone was way too high can then make a better judgement. Do u want this?

Trust me for now, it may be residential, but its not what your thinking if you think that there are families with kids running around on the road.

If the speed limit was realistic, the cops would not have a parking lot on the side of the road when they are doing speed checks, as average people driving along at what feels natural for that road are NOT doing 50.

This link somewhat shows that the 50zone on the road i was caught on was actually to reduce noise, and not increase safety.

http://www.clovermoore.com/issues/transpor...e_park_road.htm]Click[/url]

Does anyone know where i can get statistics for road accidents/traffic infringements on particular roads?

There are 80 zones on Sydney roads which have houses not 10 metres from the gutter, where no doubt at least some children live. By some people's logic in this thread, these roads should all be 50 zones.

Edit: Erm, the children live in the houses, not the gutter :D Bad wording on my part. But I'm sure some might live in the gutter too :)

Thanx for the support...

It seems like the only reason for the resurfacing, policing, and low speed limit is to lower the sound levels...as indicated on the link.... There is no mention about safety at all!!!!!

So my $1559 fine is mostly for noise polution!!????? The 50 zone and speed traps were openly put there for this reason according to the web site....

Wouldnt this be more reason to have it heard at court??

I had a little revenue raising incident this morning. On Victoria Rd Sydney, there were some cops busting people breaking the limit in the school zone.

It was just after 9:20am, so only 10 minutes before the zone ended. I was thinking "they wouldn't still be busting people this close to 9:30 would they?" (they never bust transit lanes that close to closing time) and while I was thinking about it, I had slowly accelerated up to around 55, with traffic whizzing past me. I was almost tempted to go up to 70 again to match the traffic flow when I saw the cop with his radar gun and so slowed back down to 40.

Obviously it was too late to slow down by this stage anyway, so I thought I might have been done. The cop further down the road which his buddy had radio'd stepped out in front of me and told me to stop (I was in the left lane). So I stopped, and he then waved in the ute who was in the middle lane into the side street who turned in front of me. The cop then got off the road and told me to go :D

So obviously they don't ALL pick on us import drivers! I think the only reason I didn't get done was although I was still breaking the limit, I was the slowest of all the cars breaking it.

Oh, and this was a revenue-raising incident because: There was not a single school kid in the whole damned area. I don't know which school it was (it's near Silverwater road) but I'm 99% sure that whatever school it was their starting time was well before 9:20.

I just had a gut feeling that the cops might be there based on Tony telling me they like busting that stretch, and yet I was pretty sure they wouldn't be there which is why I went over 40. Sometimes it pays to listen to your gut feelings more to avoid voluntary taxes.

God, you people DO NOT GET IT, do you?

Whether its safe to do the speed or not is irrelevant to the charge, but 106 in a city is wrong, no matter how you play it.

Its a 50 zone. He did double the speed. Now he wants to get away with it? Stuff that.

I am simply amazed so many morons support their brethren to take this to court. Its a waste of court time, tax payes money, someone who just is too immature to take it on the chin.

cheers,

floody

Once again, you have expressed your views, you dont have to repeat yourself like you drive me to do now, in saying, stay out of it.

Plus your an enthusiast like the rest of us right? In your signature there is a speedo showing illegal speeds. I dont care if it was you, or anyone else, but im sure that you have broken the speed limit before, while

'SHIFT_back one and hitTING it' while in the confines of a city. If you are so adamant that 106km/h is too fast in the city, you want me to believe that you have never done that speed right???

Or maybe there isnt a long enough stretch for your 89 sedan to reach that speed in the city.

Whatever the case is, ur a hypocrit.

Understand?, Person?

Dont reply.

The problem your going to face, is that your on a road that is sign posted as 50Klms only zone.

It can be re-surfaced, concrated, buffed etc etc, made to have cars run on it at 400klms it doesn't matter, because the road is sign posted as a 50klm speed road.

By what your saying is that it's ok, to do 106klms in a 50klm sign posted road, because A) the cops are just busting me because B) the road is re-surfaced and hey! they need a way to pay for it some how.

If you said that in court you'd probabbly be called a dickhead and get your lic canned.

As I said before you'd need to come up with some godd stuff to say just to get out of it.

So far though, your saying you weren't thinking and so you weren't paying attenation to the road nor to how your were driving, and ended up doing 56klms over the speed limit.

That's going to go really great guns.

Because the judge is probabbly going to think that if someone came out in front of you you'd probabbly be dead or they be dead or both be dead.

I think this calls for a lic canned ending.

I'm not saying this to stir you, I'm just pointing at the very big hole in your thinking.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
