Hey,

Just continuing my existing discussion about will the group buy brake lines fit my R33 GTR I've taken a few pictures of what my brake lines and rotors actually look like.

I'm getting the feeling they might not be standard size, can anyone help me by confirming?

I did some measurements but wasn't sure what to measure, anyway what I have is:

Front

Overall rotor size: 33cm

The disc part of the rotor (the silver part) 5.5cm

The centre section of the rotor - approx 19cm

Caliper length: 25cm

Rear

Overall rotor size: 31cm

The disc part of the rotor (the silver part): 4.5cm

Centre of rotor: 18cm approx

Caliper length: 17cm

All the measurements are approximate of course.

I have a lot of pictures because I'm in a rush, just a little worried that the brake lines I bought don't fit, and I'm unsure if the pads I bought are correct.

After the pic of the second disk they are all the pics of the rear rotor and lines...

Regards,

Gareth

best to measure the whole disc diameter. standard is 324mm with 30mm depth.

most likely they are standard size discs. also if they are larger than standard the calipers will have some sort of adapter between the hub and the caliper to space it out

But I did measure the disk, it was roughly 33cm, so 324mm sounds about right.

And the rear rotors, I assume there standard size as well?

Disks are Project mu, lines look standard, front are the scr pro 2 piece and rear just sloted

Thanks a lot for the info, if the lines are standard than the braided lines should fit, I just can't see how

I'll look at getting someone else to install it if I can't work it out.

I can't see what your problem is. The braided kit only replaces the 2 rubber hoses, the standard steel hoses remain.

On the front, the block bolts to the upright.

One braided hose (from memory the longer one) goes from the block to the inner guard where it joins the steel tube at the right angle bracket on the inner guard.

The other braided hose (from memory the shorter one) goes from the block to the joint for the steel tube that goes to the calliper.

On the rear, the block end of the braided hose bolts to the steel hose that goes to the calliper.

The other end of the braided hose joins the steel tube at the right angle bracket on the inner guard .

Cheers

Gary

Sorry about the multiple threads, I was trying to make it easier for anyone who was searching for info on the same problem in the future...

Ok, the problem is what 2 rubber hoses?

I only have one from memory, although the pics make it look like there are two rubber hoses, so I will confirm again tomorrow night.

Anyway, here's some edited pics I have uploaded.

BrakeWest has advised that the rear looks lines look different to normal, do most GTR's run a flexible hose directly to the caliper?

The guy at BrakeWest has offered a full refund or if I can take my lines off he will try and make some that match, is it still a good idea to get braided lines?

Oh, rear rotors are stock size so I should be fine for pads :P.

Found out the black lines which I was calling "rubber" are actually Japanese braided lines, they're just really dirty.

I'm getting some custom lines made up to fit in here that are ADR compliant and getting a refund from BrakeWest.

BrakeWest's customer service skills are excellent and I'd certainly buy off him again, its just that someone else has offered to do some custom lines at an extremely cheap price :P

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
