Hey guys/gals been a member here for a short time and after trolling through every part of this fine forum i decided our family needed a stagea. So talks began with the minister of war and she agreed to let me buy a stag so i jumped on the phone to Iron Chef Imports told him what i was after and let him do his thing. Every couple of days he would email me with the next lot of cars to go to auction and id let him know if i liked any of them. The one i ended up buying took me two goes to get it, first time we won the auction but the owner passed it in so i was spewin but two weeks later it came up again and i bought it for not much more than it was passed in for the first time :D .So i'll give you's some details and post up some photo's for you to have a look at and get some opinions on it. Ok here's what i know about it for sure.

Other than that i cant tell you much more about until i get more photo's or it gets landed here i will keep u posted on the devolopments as it gets nearer to our shore's.

Noice, pick-up buddy!

Looks like an after market kit. Good to have the km's that low.

Now the awful wait begins...... who ya going to for compliance?

I think that I saw this a few weeks ago. Bluey's don't come up very often.

whadya pay? I would have thought about 1 mill. PM me if you don't want to post that here.

Cheers

John

nice buy, looks the goods. be prepared to repair the front bar though.. i have the same bar on my s2 and its so low and sticks out so far..it got fixed before i got it but a week later put my first crack in it :D . leather and sunroofs? wana post how much.. i paid 17000k for mine but that was with 5 year waranty. anyway good luck with getting it landed and make sure if it has any gauges or nice bits that can be easily removed to hide them well

Only just got the call today so as for price auction price of 845000 yen or there abouts. Sunroof yes, leather unknown. Compliance will be going to melbourne kamikaze or maybe someone else if some one can point me in the right direction there i would appreciate it. Car is being shipped to melbourne so would prefere a local compliancer instead of going interstate. Car will be going out for a photo session in the next day or two so i'll post up some more pics when i get them.

So the final cost on the road will be around $19500 .... I can buy them in the same condition for less here in Australia. Sure it looks like a nice car but it hasn't been driven yet.

This is the third thread I have read tonight where people have bought cars from Japan for what looks like higher prices than they can be picked up for here.

I also know a person who has just bought a 1988 Silvia from Japan which will end up costing him around 12k on the road here, and he knows there are a few issues with it.

Is it really worth the hassle to buy a car unseen (yes I understand someone else has probably checked them out but they do have a vested interest) and go through all the hassle of getting it here, then go through the compliancing, wait around two months before you get it .... when you can find a car in Australia, take it for a test drive, get it checked out by a mechanic so you know exactly what you are getting for your money ..... and it will probably end up costing less.

Autech 260rs front bar, Masa motorsport side skirts and rear bar.

Would be great to get a mould of the skirts and rear, would go perfect with my R34 front. :D

Yeah soz about the name only thing i could think of at the time, thanx for the tip on the bodykit as for taking moulds of the parts that could be done if you wanted to take the time and pay the money to have it done and they didnt need the car for to long i could let it happen of course they moulder would have to be in melbourne somewhere.

Everyone I know has imported the car they wanted for cheaper. So what do you drive? :(

Andy, the Stag is a good buy no matter how you look at it. You've got members here trying to sell theirs with more kms on the clock and at least you got what you wanted and you're the only aussie owner. I got my Stag with 43,000kms on it and it is in excellent condition throughout, and I'm the only aussie owner too. :D

yeah, i did the uber long wait and i was happy with mine.

By the end of it i did get it for a stupidly low price for a 4.5 grade car.. and much cheaper then most of the series 2 in AUS..

Mine had about 80k on the clock though but for a FOB Price of i think around 500-600k yen (so around 13k on road with new tires & 12 months rego).

i cant complian...

However the autech one would of been pimper.. like bob's :P

And from what i have seen, most people i know have got their cars a whole lot cheaper importing then from AUS.. i just think the person in question was a nimrod and didnt shop around.

There was a silvia about 2 weeks back for 9k landed with 60k on the clock... so yeah *shrugs*

While i was shopping around and believe me i did shop i looked everywhere i would see heaps of bog stock white ones with no mods and more km's than mine go for 15-18 grand so i think i got a bargain say 19000 on road with all the gear it has if i bought a stock one and put the $5000 or more worth of parts on it it would have cost me closer to 23000 so im happy with my purchase thats all that matters in the end anyway :)

Hey Andy D,

Congratz on the car and welcome the Melbourne Stagea family, smallish as it may be :P

I love it how when you buy something people are like "oh why'd u buy it there you could have got it here cheaper blah blah" like that helps anyones cause by saying that sorta rubbish...

Anyway welcome and i hope it drives well for you it def looks the good :spank:

surprised iron chef didnt convince you into a legnum, they are his speciality. :spank:

nice pickup none the less

lol - horses for courses, my friend. Stageas are a pretty decent thing too.

You're a bit out on your calculations there, but either way, give me a call next time you see a Bayside Blue S2 Stagea with sunroof, 18s, mods and bodykit show up for sale locally...I won't be holding my breath...

Yeah thanx for the welcome and it is largely due to this community (as small as it may be) that i actually purchased a stagea would have loved a manual or a 260rs but the minister would not part company with any more $$'s than what i already spent (something about curtains). The info available on these forums is truly amazing this will be my first import of any kind and first turbo vehicle so once it gets here be prepared to bombarded with questions. I like all the sticky threads some great info in there my biggest hesitation b4 buying any import was with parts availability and interchangeability but after trolling through these forums my concerns were put to rest. Evan my old man loved the look of the stagea he's been a hot rodder for 40 years and is now into restoring old cars such as mini's and A and T model fords (nearly got him convinced to put a jap turbo motor in the model A) stock engine made 40 horse power in 1928 and had a top speed of 80km/h on wooden spoked rims :P

LOL chef i was wondering how long it would take you to find this thread :spank:

Congrats Andy on purchasing a Stagea, I brought mine in January this year and have not regretted it. Bayside Blue looks really nice on Stageas (is it Metallic aka Bayside Blue Metallic like the R34 GT-R). The Autech bodykit looks good and the rims suit the car..

The funny thing when you get your car is when people look at your car...they will scratch their heads and always ask "What car is it?" and when you tell them it's a Stagea they all say "what?" and the other they will say "is that a volvo?" - I get it all the time lol

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
