Installing Speakers In R30 Door, Need Help

Recommended Posts

Hey people, just wondering whether or not it is a smart idea to cut out a hole big enough to put the magnet of the speaker through in my doors.

I have taken 2 pics and circled the area that needs butchering to make these fit.

If you can't tell by the photos it is an R30 coupe so it is pillarless, I don't know if cutting this little bit out will ruin the structural integrity?

In my uneducated opinion, I'd say you're fine to drill out a bit there. The doors aren't going to fall apart or collapse if they're missing that little bit, just do the job properly and don't butcher the doors completely. My parcel shelf has been hacked at to get 6x9s in it by the previous owner. Looks like they went at it with tinsnips or something. Dodgy.

You may wish to move it back towards the rear a little away from that seem that runs vertically,

the circle you've drawn overlaps it by about an inch there at the front.

Also move down a little so it doesnt overlap the big hole in front of the window winder, otherwise you'll end

up with a bigger hole overall in the shape of a figure 8 almost.

You want to try and maintain the overall structual integrity/rigidty of the door.

But im guessing that may bring it too close to were the door pocket/armrest and stuff is.
