Hey all,

Just a quick note to say how stoked I was at attending the Advanced Driver Training at Eastern Creek today  . Myself and the little miss headed out today after our investment of $270 each for the day. All up I would say its the best day out I have ever had in my car. Very educational, and a load of fun. Heaps of sliding, understeer, oversteer and practical advice on emegency braking and accident avoidance. Well recommended to anyone! The instructors are very much car enthusiasts rather than old fart driving instructor types too.

End spiel.

Vidospace.

PS what else I learned? My wifes car (crx) handles 100% better than my skyline :-(

Ahh I saw the silver 34 on ths skidpan, so I guess that was you. Looked like the silvia was having fun too!

Its a great way to spend a day gettting the hang of how the car reacts in bad conditions. BTW don't worry too much about the handling, the crx is a pretty good car but the skyline will be much better in normal (ie not super slippery) conditions.

Did you have to do the stage 1 bit 1st? Who was it through?

I'm looking to do one of these 3 stage courses some time. Sounds like something definately would like to do :P

You dont have to do the 1st stage, though they refer a bit to it in the pre-driving bit. If you have been driving for years and are confident with your car you should be fine to go straight to stage 2 like me. After stage 2 they also have a drift training course you can do, or track day training, which is what I am doing next.

Oh and its through the eastern creek driver training school. Just check the eastern creek website.

I better go to this no kidding. You don't need that license thing to go do this training course do ya? Or is it included in the $270?

You mean a cams licence? i doubt it. I think you need to be doing certain speed or something for that to apply.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
