hey guys,

i'm getting ready for AutoSalon (PERTH - 26th of July) and i'm running out of time, have ordered a kit from a sponsor and got told i should go to another sponsor and then also got told i should use Carmate...

OKAY now i would love EVERYBODY'S opinion...

what is the fitting and quality like of Carmate's products, in particular, those of the R34 (ordering URAS/BN Sports kit)...

i don't want anybody to say good or bad things about other workshops/manufacturers/or the like

i just want opinions on the quality of [CARMATE]'s products...

those with experiences please share as i'm looking to purchase ASAP

cheers,

Andrew :)

not an R34

but all the same i bought a VT Monaro (Fiberglass copy) from CarMate.. some modification of course for rubber stoppers/levelers.. but fitment was very close (the top of the bonnet was up couple of mm.. was only top corners, not noticable unless bonnet was looked over..

not exactly what your after but every bit helps.. i would recommend them on that basis but havent bought any other body parts from them since.. i bought all my fiberglass for the skyline from DMD so get some other recommendations too (on CarMate i mean)

Quality seems ok.. got no complaints about it

LOL at them for wanting my car for three days to fit and paint rear pods. ;)

Oh, and them fitting my A/F gauge in a chrome cup when i specifically said i wanted it mounted in the autometer piller holder.

On the brighter side, they can make any sticker you want if you supply the program.

thanks for the input dude but i don't want to know about their services, i wish i was in NSW to talk to them but i just need to know what their products are like...

no use waiting a week or so patiently to find out the stuff doesn't fit and have to muck around with the parts... wastes my time getting ready for the show...

getting really agitated, never thought buying body parts could be so much to think about ;)

on the topic though, anybody know where i can buy Ganador's for R34?

mate had R32 pair for sale, no chance they would fit lol

I have a carmate fg bonnet, it fitted very well no modification required, just paint fit some bonnet locks (aerocatch) and replace stock bonnet, easy...

The only complaint would be the mesh they supplied on the vents was crap, so I left it off, the mount points for the mesh are ok'ish but I wish they wern't there at all..... I will also be getting made some fg panels mounted somehow to plug the vents for wet days. I don't like the mess the water makes, especially if your into keeping your engine bay clean and polished.

otherwise decent fibreglass job.. good fit. can't comment on delivery as I bought it new off someone else.

oh photos

thanks mate, great comments...

keep them coming fellas!

Hi

The owner's name is Steve.

He's quite straightforward and honest - I recommend that you talk to him in case you need to make a comeback

I bought a V-Spec front splitter off them and had it fitted there - a perfect fit - no adjustments necessary except to replace bolts with speedclips later

I then had a fitting of 'JU' side skirts and the cut and fit was terrible - so of course being a 'John West' fan I rejected them

Now getting Nismo side skirts and rear pods from www.jsai.com.au The guy's name is Josh - honest and friendly. He has lots of Nismo kits

Josh makes all the kits himself - 3 week waiting list at present unless he has a stored stock item in his mezzanine storage

Tell me if want a NACA Duct (as in a V Spec II) and there's another source for that

Cheers,

Terry

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
