Hi everyone,

I've been doing some research on brake upgrades and I'm almost set on what I want. The only question I have right now is will 343mm rotors fit (with standard R33 GTS-T calipers) under the standard R33 GTR wheels (17"x9)

If not I guess I'll just settle for the 324mm rotor upgrade :(

Thanks!

Cheers Roy. Another question comes to mind now. Is there any real benefit in using a 343mm rotor as opposed to a 324mm rotor with the standard calliper? I want to understand why it's better (if so). Is it purely because the larger the rotor the longer it takes to get heat into it?

Yeh basically the larger rotor means larger heat sink. But here is the thing, just like a good 235/40/17 tyre will be worth the extra money over a cheap 235/40/17 as they are not all made equal. Well same thing with rotors. ome cool better then others, some are stronger then others, some are of lesser quality.

Personally i think you would be better running something like a good quality 324mm Stoptech rotor ( UAS now stock them http://www.nismo.com.au/pricelists/pricelist_gtrbrakes.htm )over a DBA 343mm rotor meant for a HSV.

The other beauty of the 324 rotor is that when money permits if you can scratch the dollars for soem GTR calipers then they are a pain free upgrade that work well with the rotor you have. (Personally, the money ppl ask for GTR Brembos you can get the superior 4 pot AP caliper (NEW) or F40/F50 caliper (USED) for similar money.

So the bigger rotor gives you a larger heat sink so longer to heat up and larger rotor dissipates heat better so cool quicker. Also the larger rotor gives you increased braking torque which means the car has more front bias and braking power.

Whilst i used the adaptor and std caliper for a long time, i think if you are buyign nice rotors then you should have a view of grabbing some suitable calipers sooner or later. Especially when with the R31 and S13 brigade there is a market for your old calipers
