i am doing mine atm.....well nearly finished now.

you will need. and electrician and mech.

you will need.

rb25 loom (electrician required) dont try to work it out if you havent done it before.

rb25det. rb20 box bolts straight up.

will need , and i still need info on speedo cable if you are going rb25 box

if you are using a 25 box you dont, i repeat dont need to change the length of the tail shaft only the yoke on the end needs changing to the rb25 one...got mine done for about 150-200 i think.

depending on other mods eg forward facing plenum, that is all that you really need to change...oh and you might need an r33 accel cable. there are alot of other space plugs on the rb25 loom that arent used as well, but that doesnt matter...if you want more details pm me, and i will right a full document.

for the $5K you have to spend, you could make a reliable 250rwkw out of the RB20.

without the hassles of rego paper work, engine swap, being off the road for ages etc.

to make 220rwkw out of an RB25 you are going to need upgraded....

intercooler, fuel pump, afm, injectors, turbo, exhaust, ecu, tune

now, if you buy the above parts for the RB20 you already have, you will still make over 220rwkw and not have to fork out for the purchase of RB25, gearbox, tailshaft, engine swap costs.

If your goal was on the crazy side of 250rwkw, i'd understand the need for more capacity.

I think spending the cash on the rb20 will yeald good results for less money.

have a look in to the RB20 dyno results thread in the forced induction section to see what mods make what power on peoples cars.

eh i will be looking for more then 220rwkw on stock injectors in mine...should be able to. turbo maybe, ecu yes you will, afm...yeah maybe, fuel pump might as well do it.

Yeah i have have been looking at the dyno results for RB20s with upgraded bits. What im unsure about is the torque low down. Everyone is saying how much more power the RB25 makes over a 20, I had a 33 GTST with a bit of work done it was decent. But if a RB20 will make the power im chasing maybe thats the best way to go.

Will i still need a 33 box to handle the power>??

rb20 box should handle 260 ish....but wont be on it.

if you have a rb20 already stay with it seriously...i should have, this conversion has cost alot. just make sure you do it properly...if you are aiming for 240+ then i would considering rebuilding it internally, dont take no chance. and yes the power in a 20 will come alot higher in the revs then a 25. so it depends on what you want.

Depending when you plan to do the conversion, I can offer to do a plug'n'play loom for you. Send me the RB20 and Rb25 looms and I will return it ready to simply plug in and go. I wire up all items to ensure complete functionality of the standard RB25 ECU (eg. boost solenoid, VCT, FICD, A/C etc). I normally charge $300 for a series 1 or 2 RB25 or RB26.

I have personally done the RB25 into R32 conversion twice and can recommend it. The RB25 gearbox will require more work and if you already have a manual R32 you will need to either modify the gearbox crossmember or make a new one. If the car was originally auto and you plan to use the RB25 gearbox, from what I have seen the original crossmember should bolt up ok.

correct..i have an auto from factory and the rb25 box went straight in.

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).

    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
    • yeah I was shocked when I checked my spare OEM on and as below that's how they come from Nissan. (side interesting note new NEO gearbox and replacement park lack the brass bush on the tips and its just all alloy) unsure about damage to the box currently back at 1110 to be pulled down/inspected and selector fork replaced as he built it previously and given the never before seen failure on his billet forks he is replacing it under warranty. He said he has used always OEM the keyway tab without issue for years so it could be an unlucky coincidence. I did talk to him about the sharp corners and stress concentration too. Re: hard shifts i got 7+ years out of the OEM one and the fork itself failed not the keyway. so could be bad luck as I said or an age thing + heat cycles in box and during fabrication of billet?
