R33 Suspension Upgrade

Hi Guys,

Looking at upgrading my suspension components on my Skyline R33 (tension rods, tie rods etc)

Done plenty of of reading around the forum but everyone seems to have somthing different!

Looking for a good/comfortable handling road car with the occational track day!

Can people let me know if they're happy with their setup & what they're running?

Dont want peoples general opinions on brands etc....just want to hear from people commenting on their own actual setups.

Just upgraded mine last weekend from stock (lowered) set-up to Bilstein/King springs set-up/ Couldn't be happier. The car corners much better and the turn-in is much more precise....

Taking it drifting this saturday so I'll let you know how it goes

This is what i will be doing real soon to make the car a little more track friendly (without spending every penny i will ever have..but it still ain't cheap)

Tein mono flex coilovers (if they ever arrive from japan!!!)

whiteline adjustable sway bars

castor rods (no real brand preference)

replacing any bushes that are foooked.

possibly some upgraded control arms as i highly doubt we will be able to get a useful camber out of bushes... but if your mainly streeting this wont concern you.

And most importantly.... Alignment by people who actually know what there doing!

What you may or may not want out of this kind of setup is the springs rates will probably be too hard for daily use (look into the SK group buy of bilstein/whiteline for a more street friendly by track ready setup). For a streeter you could get away with just some upgraded non adjustable sway bars. Don't need to necessarily go castor rods but definitely get those old crappy bushes replaced.

if your balance is more towards road then track, I would suggest adjustable shock absorbers rather than coilovers. if you want comfort then coilovers will be too harsh for you.

lowering springs will be ok though and will lower the centre of gravity which equals better cornering.

yeah, ive got adjustable KYB shocks on mine all round...

wit KYB heavy duty-lowered springs...

front whiteline adjustable castor bushes...

front extra-heavy duty whiteline sway bar...

rear strut brace..

and my car handles like a dream..

just got fit my front strut brace and my hicas lock-bar...which are in my garage...

and she wont b a boat anymore..lol

than its coil-overs and whiteline pineapples for the rear cradle...

and thats all you really need...

but it depends on wat u like..and how be driving..

me..i like my control wen sideways on the sreet or wer-eva..

and my guess everyone is like that...

make sure ur not on stockie's either, they tend not to grip...lol

some good 235/45r17 wit good tyres should help too...

i've just upgraded my setup and i cant speak more highly of it...

greddy type s coilovers 8kg front / 6kg rear

selby non adjustable swaybars

castor rods

camber bolts

pineapple bushes

hicas lock bar

custom spiggots

18 x 9.5 ssr sp1's

best mod so far (although hks 2835 pro s is going in on tuesday)

the car is a daily and the greddy springs are well soft enough to not be a pain AT ALL!

I currently got cusco adjustable suspension on my R33. Only sports suspension I have tried but they pretty good.

I was wondering if anyone here is selling their R33 stock suspension or would like to hire it out to me for a day or two as i need to get my R33 through darn regency.
