Hey Everyone.

Thought it was time I posted up a topic for my car. Haven't really updated anything since my first introductory thread (see HERE for my introduction post which explains how and why I got the car etc)

So it's a 1989 Nissan Skyline GTE, with a manual and RB25DE conversion, along with 5-stud brakes, R200 diff etc. It was purchased in October 2005.

A minor thing we did when we first got it was painted and cleaned up the brake calipers.

After

We also got it dyno'd, 115rwkw, pretty reasonable I think.

Here is the progress of the Clarion Headunit and Front speakers. These were laying round from my sister's old Daihatsu Applause. No audio came with the car when purchased.

Previous owner must have made these mounts, personally don't like them. Trying to source stock covers at the moment.

The rim centre's weren't in excellent condition so we decided to get them sandblasted and powdercoated in black. Also got the plates MI11NT, I don't like them anymore so when rego comes up I'm going to get RB25NA I think.

And then we did suspension, we put new Polyurethane bushes in the front caster arms and front upper arms, and a few months after that got TEIN super-street coilovers.

They're actually on their lowest setting, but I think it's great.

And then we got some better speakers for the front + tweeters (Pioneer) and moved the Clarions to the rear.

Not a great pic of the speakers but meh.

Not much happened for a while, but recently I got a new headunit.

No pics of that installed.

Also got a Genuine Nismo Steering Wheel and boss kit. I love the old style Nismo Logo.

And 2 days ago I got a Genuine Nismo Aluminium Chrome gearknob, however it isn't the type you can buy now, it's a discontinued part and has the old style logo engraved in it. Pics to come.

That's about all the progress on my car I guess.

My plans now are to get

  • Nismo Cupholder (rare) but just purchased one :(
  • Side Window visors
  • Fix + Paint front Aero bar and then purchase the matching Aero pods for a full Factory Aero kit.
  • Brand New Nardi Wheel (with Nismo horn button)
  • Mount rear plates at angle (and get RB25NA)
  • Stock door speaker covers and mounts.
  • Vacuum clean interior with one of those powerful chemical ones :O
  • Buff + polish + wax and all that stuff (easy done, just need to put the effort in haha)
  • Put some new Blue LEDs in the dash cos some of the ones now fell out due to the people putting the alarm system in

Thanks for looking at my 4-door R32 Skyline :P

Updates to come hopefully ^.^

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
    • Hi Everyone I am from West Pennant Hills in NSW. Been too busy until recently to attend to my RB25DET Series 2 engine until recently. I am planning to stick it into the S15 shell at this stage, unless a nice SR20DET turns up... For now, i am going to try and get the RB25 running and working well then decide what gearbox to use. My preference is to retain the SR20DET  6 speed gearbox and tail shaft to retain as much and least modifications as i can avoid. I am an old guy and won't be doing any heavy drifting so i don't need a bullet proof gearbox Does anyone have experience with starting the RB on a stand? I got everything setup as much as I can with the info i can find... endless searching and videos on Youtube I would be great to get some pointers Cheers Songo
    • Hey all, Recently have had my s1 r33 gtr serviced and noticed my coolant reservoir was topped up to the max line. Took the car out for 1 yesterday and noticed today the reservoir is completely empty.  Any ideas? Radiator is full
