today i've installed SACFII and AVCR. i'm going to run 1.0 bar pressure on stock turbo, but there is some kind of a sound like iron knock... is it a detonation? i've also a backfire always above 0.5 pressure... hope the spark plug gap to 0.7 will fix it.

what i would like to know is will the lower gap (0.7) fix my problem of backfier or not?

btw, i'm trying to measure the A/F ratio with Apexi turbo timer :) thanks.

can the detonation happen on rich mixture? because it backfires on 1.0 bar too but it looks like it detonate... it also backfires on 0.5 bar. i thought that detonation happen only when the fuel mix is too lean, but how then the backfire happens?

i thought audible detonation sounded like a tin can shaking around with nutz and bolts in it. could that sound be just vibration noise from the exhaust or turbo heat shield?

does your check engine light come on when you hear this noise? i've registered 150+ on my powerFC for knock and i've still not heard detonation. i believe you're alot more susceptible to detonation when you start advancing ignition timing.

i just can't imagine how an increase in boost and some fuel adjustments could be making the car detonate (unless you've taken out alot of fuel and your running a shitload of boost).

i wouldn't trust a/f ratios from a turbo timer. you are best to get it tuned on a dyno with the sniffer up the exhaust.

How exactly are you measuring the a/f ratios??

My Apexi turbo timer shows it... but it actually sucks, i tried to make a very rich mixture, there is a black smoke from the exhaust, but Apexi still shows 14:1 :) no Dynos here....

Franks, check engine didn't flash - should it? but yes, i think it "sounded like a tin can shaking around with nutz and bolts in it". just didn't know how to describe it... i will try to configure the knock sensor on the SAFC and see if it is a denotatation or not.

your turbo timer has a sensor plugged into the oxygen sensor??

And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
