If you drove a camry, you'd hate everyone who drove a skyline too

LOL

Going to the show today Andy? A bunch of us are meeting beforehand at 12 ... can PM you the details.

hey sorry Rubes - I only just saw your post today. Nah mate, I headed in on Saturday .... I assume you were just as unimpressed on Sunday, as I was on Saturday. Ordinary show! Without the trade stands and their cars there, there would have been under 50 entrants .... poor.

I just can't believe that Honda Accord Euro with a set of chrome rims being in the show - WTF????

well hopefully these low numbers at auto salon are an indicator of australia having a declining taste in fast and the furious cars with stripes and shiny rims

would love to see a auto salon with all strip/drift/track cars + mean street cars

well unfortunately autosalon is what it is, like it or loathe it. i honestly don't see autosalon being here next year due to lack of interest. jdm styling however can be seen at small car sunday, all japan day, extreme horsepower, SMASA etc

yeh after hearing everyones views on it and now viewing the pics i +1 that statement, i think they will be skipping the SA round next year....

there is a all japan day????

+999999999999 for AJD.

I've plugged AJD enough, I think.

Matte finish ftw on that S15 and Stagea!

We went down and had a look on sunday, and also werent that impressed with what was on show, but i think theres more to it than just loss of interest on entrants behalfs.

From my point of view, i didnt enter this year because of the time involved, having to work late on friday and then saturday aswell it wasnt going to be a viable option for me to enter. The other thing i think is a bit rich is the cost of entering, really, the entrants are the ones bringing the "entertainment" to the show, i dont see why the entrants should have to pay to enter, i think the spectators entry fee should more than cover the costs of the whole set up.

In my opinion i think the reason for the decline in entry numbers in adelaide has more to do with the fact of our increasingly anal transport laws making it harder to own and drive a nice looking car without being defected, most people these days probably think "why bother". With the different laws in different states it makes it easier for them to mod cars without getting bent over for it.

Another reason also once again being associated with our transport department with the defect station that was set up out side of autosalon, thats a definite way of putting off spectators "come see the awesome display of cars, and get defected on your way out!" theres a deal.....

Where was the Defect station? I cruised down on Saturday along Goodwood road and never saw a station? I was @ the Salon from 10am til about 3pm

I'm so fed up with the cops targeting car events. Even track events where we're doing what they asked and "take it onto the track" yet we still get pinged. You don't see them targetting footy events?!

Pathetic SAPOL. Down right pathetic.

It's a fight we'll never win.

There was a station on leader street (exhibitor carpark), and two apparenty outside of the main exits on Rose Terrace.

Yep, and as soon as it started to rain they packed up (OH&S) so luckily I avoided them ok...

I agree with grims point about the entry fee and all that, in total it cost me around $200 for the weekend... money that could have been better spent elsewhere....having said that, it was a nice experience for a first timer, even if it was a bit boring to be there... and I didn't even go in on the Sat...

and damo, how come no pics of my car? hate on for the r32?

oh and andrew, if u cant believe the honda accord, how about that fooly sik VW Golf with a massive 50kw with a f**king smoke machine inside it. how bloody lame can u get...

-D

That couldnt of been as bad as the banged up old Magna... you look at the Mitsubishi stand and it goes something like - evo, evo, evo.... banged up old Magna... evo evo... lol

Small Car Sunday > Autosalon

think everyones already said it, but autosalon was a big let down this year, was pretty crap actually. Way less cars than last year, pretty boring displays.. overall pretty average.

Best part about it was catching up with people I hadnt seen in a while.. shaun, PK, cara, martin etc.. Was good to see u guys

    • Then, shorten them by 1cm, drop the car back down and have a visual look (or even better, use a spirit level across the wheel to see if you have less camber than before. You still want something like 1.5 for road use. Alternatively, if you have adjustable rear ride height (I assume you do if you have extreme camber wear), raise the suspension back to standard height until you can get it all aligned properly. Finally, keep in mind that wear on the inside of the tyre can be for incorrect toe, not just camber
    • I know I have to get a wheel alignment but until then I just need to bring the rear tyres in a bit they're wearing to the belt on the inside and brand new on the outside edge. I did shorten the arms a bit but got it wrong now after a few klms the Slip and VDC lights come on. I'd just like to get it to a point where I can drive for another week or two before getting an alignment. I've had to pay a lot of other stuff recently so doing it myself is my only option
    • You just need a wheel alignment after, so just set them to the same as current and drive to the shop. As there are 2 upper links it may also be worth adding adjustable upper front links at the same time; these reduce bump steer when you move the camber (note that setting those correctly takes a lot longer as you have to recheck the camber at each length of the toe arm, through a range of movement, so you could just ignore that unless the handling becomes unpredictable)
    • I got adjustable after market rear camber arm to replace the stock one's because got sick of having to buy new rear tyres every few months. Can anyone please let me know what the best adjustment length would be. I don't have the old ones anymore to get measurements. I'm guessing the stock measurement minus a few mm would do it. Please any help on replacing them would be fantastic I've watched the YouTube clips but no-one talks about how long to set the camber arm to.
    • Heh. I copied the link to the video direct, instead of the thread I mentioned. But the video is the main value content anyway. Otherwise, yes, in Europe, surely you'd be expected to buy local. Being whichever flavour of Michelin, Continental or Pirelli suits your usage model.
