Power FC -2ndhand or new??

I am taking the plunge and investing in a Power FC, wondering if I should buy secondhand or new. Is there much that can go wrong? Do they 'wear out' and has anyone ever had problems with them or should I stop being a tight arse and pay extra for new?

I see no problem with a 2nd hand unit, and you can just reset it to default settings when you get it so it doesn't do any strangeness to your car.
