Hey ive recently pulled my FJ20 out of my new DR30 and on the cashing near the balancer is "ATSUGI" stamped into it. Now im 100% sure my the FJ in my last DR30 didnt have this marking, can anyone shed some light on it? I know Nissan has a technical centre in ATSUGI, Japan.

From memory Atsugi is a contractor in Japan that made various OEM parts for Japanese manufacturers .

You'll probably find that different era FJ20's - and other Jap engines - have used Atsugi parts at one time and another suppliers component at another .

A good example is engine electricals , some used Mitsubishi alternators/CAS and others used Hitachi or some other .

Look at brake master cylinders , some Nabco others Tokico .

Nothing to worry about if it is an all original engine .

A .

    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
    • Bloody apprentices! 🙄
    • Not sure yet.  Was considering speedtek because it was rated to 800hp, but when I did some research about him I don't think I will go for that🤣 So maybe giken gear set, but I'm afraid it won't be strong enough🙄
    • Keeping in mind that for most people this is a week to month long job!
    • Its also worth mentioning that 30 years after it left the factory and god knows how many missed oil changes since, there is every possibility that one or more lifters are ticking because they are sticky/gummed up. To resolve that you need to pull the cams then pull each lifter, disassemble, clean, reassemble, soak in oil and re-install, and they should come up good as new.
