So after blowing the gearbox I thought f**k this, and ripped it out. 25det to go in!

I did some stuff tonight as it hasn't been so hot, removed the p/s rack, bushes were shagged!

Cleaned the engine bay and removed about what I think is close to 1kg of dirt / grime / sand / rubber / crap from the cross-member.

Stuff going in -

Reconditioned rack (basically new) with lock spacers fitted

nolathane rack bushes

solid steering coupling from gktech.

This combined with the rose jointed rack ends, should feel like new.

Prep wash ftw.

New steering in, reco'd rack, nolathane rack bushes, solid steering spacer, that mixed in with my rose jointed tie rod end junk should be sick!

That's all folks for now, rb25det is being picked up this weekend!

  • 6 months later...

Been a while, not sure who will read this but thought I'd update with some pics of progress n that.

So I got a s1 rb25, overhauled all seals so rear main, crank, cam seals. Did water pump and put on gates timing belt + new tensioner / idler, painted covers, replaced all heater hoses all that kind of junk. Anyway I'll let the pics do the talking.

Had it tuned and the car made 209.8rwkw on around 13.5psi bleeding off to around 13 - 12.8 due to rb25 actuator, short runners let it down a bit in the mid range but i have the solution.. further on in this thread.

So I took her out to round 2 of g1, some piccies.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
