The key's open the car and start it only. Seperate key for the boot... Don't ask me why but thats just how it is.

You mention wanting to have money spare for petrol etc... I hope you have also considered insurance!!

really! so the seller should give me 2 keys?

yea thinkin of spending 9-10k on a 32 10-12 on a 33 and rest on insurance and others

really? my keys on my old 4 door opened everything?

and also rego changeover, service when you get it (this isn't necessary, but i normally do it when i buy a car just for piece of mind)

Well for my GTR one key opens doors and starts car and seperate key opens boot. I have got another two keys also though, maybe one of them opens all, im not too sure. Either way, basically if the key doesn't open the boot I would not assume it has been in a crash, i know GTR's came with a boot specific key anyway.

Hrmm, shame you couldn't spend $10-12k on a 32; cause that would get you a nice one. My mate is selling his for that and it has cooler, apexi suspension, stereo, rims etc etc - its a sweet car. Not tryin to sell you on it or nuthin, but thats what you can get in a 32 for that kind of money. $9-10k is more the 89-90 32's that came in uner 15 year rule which personally I never considered when I bought my 32 gts-t (my first car).

My two cents :P

Edited by r32line

I have never known an r32 that has seperate keys for the boot and rest of the car. Have had two r32's and both have only ever only had 1 key.

All the r32 gtr's i have checked in the last few months have only had one key also.

Just sounds like a seperate boot was put on.

  • 2 months later...

finally i saved up enough to buy a skyline, i have always wanted a r32 because of its compact size , but since everyone on this forums has a GTR32( i cant afford 1). i have about 10k to spend on the car, a mate of mine has a pretty good gtst 32 for sale atm at a mate price(is a gtst r32 really worth getting?). However i can get a r33 with around the same budget, question is will i be better off buying a r33 instead or a r32? people who are holding on the their r32s (not gtr) may i ask why?

Its up to you and which one you like better in terms of looks etc.

For me my lil r32 gtst is a hell of a lot of fun in a light package and you can get some decent power from a rb20. Also love the 32 shape and all its character.

Also later on if you want more power or you end up blowing your engine you can always swap in a rb25 or 26.

Since you are looking at spending some coin here, you should consider some facts outside the "pull chicks" theory.

Now apart from looks (which is a personal choice), you should compare the 2 cars.

R32.

89-91 models are 1290kg

160kw

crap interior material.

92-94 models are 1320kg

160kw

nicer interior material (latest model got even nicer - kinda like GTR seat material/pattern)

R33.

All GTST models got the same power 187kw

All R33 gtst models weigh 1360kg (with the auto being 1390kg)

93-95 = series 1 and series 1.5 (which is pretty much a series 1 with some series 2 bits like rear wing, and in some cases, interior)

96-98 = series 2 (the pretty model)

now.

RB20 is lower compression, makes less power and less torque than the RB25.

the R32 gtst has a weaker gearbox than an R33

the R32 GTST has smaller brakes than an R33

the 2 cars you can afford are the R32 or series 1 R33.

you are looking at a weight difference of 40-70kg (r33 being heavier)

for that extra weight, you get the bigger brakes.

one of the toughest gearboxes around.

and what I believe is a better diff ratio for cruising (r32 = 4.3:1, R33 = 4.1:1)

rb25 is 9.0:1 compression, 500cc more capacity.

this makes traffic driving ALOT nicer.

ALOT!!

as someone said, ideally, you would buy someone elses RB25 powered R32.

I've had 2 R32's (one 2 door rwd and one 4 door 4wd) and currently a series 1 R33 GTST.

which I am selling... :/

but only because I get bored of cars quickly.

keep the facts in mind before making your decision.

if I was to buy another budget skyline???

I'd get an R32 GTST.

just because I like the way I feel in it.

Well I have a lot of fun in my R33 also, awesome engine gearbox and looks mega hot + newer :D

Though for $10k I'd be looking at a good R32 GTS-t rather than a Series 1 R33... if you were looking at a Series II R33 vs R32 on the otherhand... Series II R33 hands down. IMO.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
