OK listen up team...

i HAVE done a search (please don't tell me to) and i have decided that NGK BCPR6E 0.8mm plugs are the best for my application. i still have a few questions...

1) How can i tell that a plug needs to be changed when looking at it? what SHOULD it look like?

2) can you buy plugs gapped to 0.8mm from the packet? as i keep seeing people who have re-gapped them after they bought them

i have a misfire only osmetimes at idle but its very small. i basically want to check and replace if necessary as they plugs are still from when i bough the car about 15,000kms ago...

btw:

(EDIT: i put this in as some people get angry when they see similar questions. this is to clarify that i can't find if this has been asked before or not)

1) Go into your nearest parts shop like Supercheap Auto and grab a hold of an NGK Catalogue that is usually hanging off a chain around the ignition area and look inside the first few pages, there are usually around about 10 different pictures of what used spark plugs look like in various conditions. A healthy RB engine should have a light greyish brown colour, a bit more orangey brown if you're using octane boosters and premium unleadeds like BP Ultimate, Shell Optimax, etc, etc.

2) NGK plugs without a dash and a number on the end are defaulted to a 0.8mm gap. Dash eleven for example (-11) is gapped to 1.1mm. Your BCPR6E is gapped straight out of the box as 0.8mm...

oh and you will foul standard coppers very quickly in a turbo RB engine, i'd lean towards Iridiums unless you feel like changing coppers all the time...

Just get a gapping tool...they dont cost much then u can readjust the gap to the shape you want. Between the type of plugs copper platinum irridium...the most basic diferenence is the time of changing them...copper about 10-20,000k platinum 100,000K iridium 150,000k...but u would want to change them more often anyways...money is the main this it comes down too..theres heaps more info but i cbf typing so much..and i'm tired .....eh

from the search i did, many people did not have anything bad to say about coppers, and at $20 a pop it is something that can be changed as often as a pair of undies...

i think i have platinums in there at the moment (took one out to check ages ago when i got the car).
