  1. For high boost / high power engines steel top rings are the best. As someone mentioned earlier, they can handle more abuse and "bend" unlike the cast moly rings which shatter with extreme detonation. In saying that, ductile iron rings are cheaper than steel and generally will be a better choice (on a budget) than a cast ring in a forced induction engine... From experience, I have NEVER had an issue with the Total Seal brand of rings.

    Fuel Pump

The HKS straight fit pump in my R34 was from Performance Wholesale. Just like the Nismo and Tomei kits, they come complete as a bolt in item with everything including a new tank seal and inline fuel damper (not a regulator as you all keep calling it) They're good for 550HP and flow eaxctly the same as the Nismo and Tomei pumps and aren't anywhere near as noisy as the Bosch pumps. Just a light hum.... just my 2c worth...
  4. for Total Seal rings (including their patented Gapless rings) try www.performancewholesale.com.au be careful with which rings you buy, as different brands will have different axial widths (ie: the depth of the ring into the piston groove) Make sure you check this too.
  5. www.performancewholesale.com.au will have both an R34 HKS intank pump (which comes with new tank seal, fuel pressure damper and fileter sock) and HKS FCD in stock. Give em a try!
  6. The official HKS distributor for Australia is www.performancewholesale.com.au I am sure they have the genuine HKS diaphragm kits in stock for these older wastegates.
  7. I know for a fact that R33 & R34 GTR harmonic balancers are identical. The R32 GTR one will fit, however the power steering belt won't line up because this pulley is approximately 8mm further forward. you'd have to either press the pulley 8mm off it's shaft (not recommended) or modifiy the P/S bracket to get it 8mm further forward. The ATI balancers are the best ones if you want an aftermarket one. Hope that helps.
  8. +1 for Carillo's. wouldn't consider anything else for a 1000hp engine. However for street engines up to 800hp Eagles are fine. (even if they are chinese rods)
  9. The HKS Fcon iS has optional MAP sensor capabilities. I think they are very competitive on price too compared to the likes of the TRUST Emanage and Haltech ECU's in this class. Give Alex from GT Auto Garage in Brisbane a call. www.gtautogarage.com.au Also, see here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Gt...60#entry4229460
  10. Ok, I know we're off topic quite a bit, but it must be said... I don't like saying anything on forums unless I know I'm 100% correct. And, no matter how much I argue the point, I'm only ever going to get flamed by people here that don't know what they're talking about. It's just the anonymous nature of forums unfortunately. I have seen on many occasions, particularly GTR Skylines, especially R32's, where I have seen 600HP AWD cars make an extra 50HP in RWD mode. As an example, a particular car down south, makes 990 AWHP and when run on the same dyno, because the ramp-up rate is so much more aggressive in RWD mode, it makes around 1200HP before it wants to turn the rear tyres. Talk to any tuner in Australia worth their salt, and they will all tell you the same thing.
  11. LOL of course it does! How about you get away from your keyboard for a moment, and actually pull two dyno runs, one a 2WD dyno and one on a 4WD and post up the differences in power delivery and torque curve and try to tell me otherwise...
  12. Standard noise level on the R32 GTR is 94db. HKS offer 3 types of exhaust for this car: 1. Silent Hi Power 409 (mild steel with stainless muffler) = 97db. 2. Silent Hi Power Type H (full stainless) = 97db. 3. LEGAL system = 93db. I would contact Performance Wholesale at [email protected] for a price. They were surprisingly cheap compared to trying to get one in through Nengun or Greenline which have to pay huge freight and duty costs. WWW.HKS.COM.AU
  13. I thought the HKS fuel pump was closer to 250L/hour which is good for 550HP at the engine. Bonus of the HKS pump is that it comes as a BOLT IN kit with strainer and new fuel tank seal. I put one in my R34 a few years ago and haven't looked back since.
  14. Try www.performancewholesale.com.au Got them next day in an airbag. Price was fair and was genuine Australian stock with a warranty.
  15. What type of head gasket was used? I'm trying to think outside of the square and it could be as simple a blown head gasket giving a terrible seal... What are the engine temps like?
  16. Have you considered JE Pistons with Gapless Rings?
  17. It was HKS's decision to "lock" the tune on the F-Con's in an attempt to stop boofheads getting within the ECU and farking up a map. (and an engine!) Their marketing philosophy behind their F-Con range is that their product is a high-end item and they are then aiming it at the premium end of the tuner's scale. ie: HKS Pro Dealers with to-the-minute product knowledge on their F-Con's with the Power-writer software. Not some two-bit dodgy workshop that's here today, gone tomorrow kind of proposition which will often provide a very "half-baked" attempt at setting a tune. I guess it's just a shame that they made that decision and didn't go down the line of providing end-user modification. (ie: Power FC hand controller) My view is that it's up to whoever you can trust to fit and tune an ECU to get the most out of that given package.
  18. From the USA site: Translated from the Japan site: The HKS F-Con V Pro has it over the Power FC: -32bit 32x32 resolution for tuning, whereas the Power FC is possibily 16x16 or 20x20 tuning resolution, depending on version/application? Correct me if i'm wrong. -It has Air/Fuel Compensation map where it can aim for a set Air/Fuel ratio. I don't believe Power FC has that feature. -It doesn't come with a handcontroller, but can interface with the F-Con Navigator which displays info just like the Power FC's hand controller. -It can be connected directly to the CAMP2 graphical display unit (a bit like the R34 & R35 GTR's display screen) -It can interface directly with HKS's Air/Fuel Knock Amp for tuning and checking for detonation. That's the major differences I could see amongst all the other Motec style features it has. The downside is only two tuners in Australia have the software and experience to get the most out of this ECU. The other way to look at it, is that the HKS F-Con will be around for a very long time and the Power FC's life is numbered. Although there will be hundreds of tuners out there still toying with Power FC's for years to come, it will get to a stage where the Power FC will be dated technology (they don't manufacture them anymore) and people will be looking elsewhere for a plug-in ECU. The firmware in F-Con's can be updated by Pro Dealers.
  19. elrodeo666, when you come back to Oz with the car, where do you live? There are currently two certified HKS Pro Dealers which can tune the F-Con ecu's in Australia. One's in Sydney: www.tunehouse.com.au and the other is www.xspeed.com.au in Western Australia. I know that's not many and probably not enough to warrant support for the HKS products here, but, there will be more HKS Pro Dealers popping up around the country towards the end of the year apparently. I guess, you've just got to weigh up whether you want to: A: Dishonour your Japanese friends with a Power FC or B: Earn your respect with them with a HKS F-Con Pro!

    Hks Workshop

Micko77: Yes, new HKS Pro Dealers are currently being appointed by Performance Wholesale Australia and will then need to be certified by HKS Japan. It's apparently a long and tedious process, both from a training and support point of view. HKS Japan realise that there is a lack of support in Australia of the Pro dealer items (ie: F-Con ECU product line, VALCON, VCAM and all of the "Pro" items within their catalogue) when in their own JDM and US markets, you'll find that the HKS electronics range is more commonly used and accepted than what people are more familiar with here. (Power FC, TRUST/Greddy, etc, etc)
  21. R34 Neo coils will work for R33 series 2's as well (models without the ignitor module mounted towards back of the coil cover) Free BUMP!

    Hks Workshop

As of July 1st 2008 BD4's are no longer a HKS Pro Dealer. See this link below for the only only two workshops "currently" supplying & Tuning anything to do with F-Con in Australia: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Hk...74#entry3991874
  23. Where are you located? And do you need the HKS F-Con Pro fitted & tuned?
