unfortunately, u cannot always be right.

i can be right when i know im right!...

my examples are taken from previous examples put through these forums and also examples i have seen/ been involved with.

getting back to the:

If u drive a V6, and the P plater next to u is in a V8, the cops will always stop the V8.

that isnt really what we were on about.....

if you or me a P plater are both at a set of lights say im driving my new r33 gtr vspec and your driving your new monaro and there is a police officer behind us in his car doing traffic duty. I would put my money on me being pulled over and not you....why...most jap cars are modified. The reason why heaps of japanese cars get pulled over is not only because of the power to weight issue it is also because of the "illegal" mods saga... the police officer could pull you over and fine you 105 dollars for driving your car, but then he could pull me over fine me 105 dollars, pop my bonnet find the boost controller , air intake , the exhaust. in car goodies etc etc.... each find adding to my first. ...

i agree with you if your driving a na v6 and there is a p plater driving a v8 they would get pulled over before you.

Yes they will stop Jap cars, but not all the time at night. U describe it as if u cannot get from Point A to Point B without being hassled.

a few months back if you drove in certain areas it was becoming very close to this if you were on the forums in the vic section you would have seen all the, damn cops and i got defected last night posts popping up each day... it isnt as bad now though but it is certainly more strict then it was 2 years ago.

akeenan tried to contradict me in a statement the explicitly stated :In VICTORIA.

:)

Getting back to the topic I don't think a power/weight restriction would be a bad thing. Ask any psychologist and they'll tell you that young males are far more prone to risk-taking behaviour than 25 & over.

I know you can get into trouble in a Pulsar but a big power GTS or Silvia is much more difficult to control when you find the limits than a front wheel drive Pulsar etc etc. Understeer is seen as a 'safer' form of loss of traction which is why most car makers engineer their bread-and-butter cars to push at the limit.

Maybe if a restriction was introduced it could be waived if a driver presents a CAMS license or some evidence of advanced driver training?

Tough question and I guess there's no easy answer.

Cheers,

Ben

    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
    • OK, few more things sorted and it is ready for a shakedown on 10-Oct, with one weird thing. Changed the run in oil and filter for the good stuff. 8l came out, about 8.5 went in with filter so that looks all good. Changed the starter (again), this time for a brand new one, works good. Interesting that the Taaaarks one is shorter than factory but spins harder, I guess electronics have moved on a little in the last 30 years. Will be nice to have a bit of extra space under there. Put the timing cover back on, and noted where the cam gears were set as a record.  Will need to double check the timing but it is pretty close. Also put the coil pack cover and intake snorkel back on. Exhaust Inlet Changed the water out for coolant, bled up nicely. Removed the rear brake pads (well worn factory sumitomo ones!), gave the hardware a good clean and reassembled. I've put bendix XP on the back again because the price is excellent at $150 a set and they worked well on the V37. Front pads have plenty so no issue there
    • Mine is all -12, I’m running a dry sump in a billet block though
