Vik
Hey guys, need some help. Got defected by the cops for my Pod Filter. Need to cover it with the Just Jap box, but in order to do that i need to extend the Pod to the bottom right corner of my engine bay, towards the Water Bottle. I need some opinions on how to do so, and have attatched some pics of the engine bay and the actual box i want to get. Thanks in advanced guys! SHANE666
Just Jap box is a good option, however you can build a box with about 40 bucks and 3-4 hours. Search in the DIY forum. I think someone in the central coast did it...Jim, if i remember correctly, i forget his forum nickname. Anyway, with summer just arriving, put back the stock airbox with a high flow panel filter. Pods = unresponsiveness in warmer conditions. UAS sells a fibreglass airbox for pod filters, specifcally for 34s for $190ish. Vik
I so wouldve, but i dont have the stock air box man. It sucks big time seriously. But yeah, i need to get this up and running asap. I would make it myself, ive seen the DIY but i just dont have the time at the moment to make it myself. And the Just Jap one looks heaps neat MRXTCZ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/238650-how-to-extend-pod/#findComment-4171596 Share on other sites
SHANE666
Thats cool then, youre best option sounds like the Just Jap box... Good luck with it. Post pics after you have it installed, plus any performance difference you feel. N-DAWG
Maybe use a metal elbow pipe. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/In...te-t232764.html That seems to be fairly close to where you need it to be, if you can get an elbow the right length then it should be sweet. Something like this (provided it's the same diameter) might help you extend, and it still retains flexibility to get it exactly where you need. Might need a bit of modding to get it right. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HOLDEN-COMMODORE-VT...1QQcmdZViewItem If you used a black elbow like that, combined with a black pod enclosure, it should look fairly standard and won't stand out too much next time a cop takes a look. Vik
Cheers for that but i cant see any of those pics, and the second link doesnt work for me. Walked into Autobarn last night, they had these plastic and metal pipes and elbow's aswell. But the thing is, i just need to know what do i do with the additional pipes that come off the stock intake pipe? because if i extend it, when will i do it from? Keep the piping with the AFM and all. The first image is in the interesting pod filter setup thread. Vik
But doesnt metal keep it cooler ? or sound better ? MRXTCZ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/238650-how-to-extend-pod/#findComment-4173019 Share on other sites
N-DAWG
Metal screams out modified intake. black piping going into a box looks more standard. If you're getting pulled up a lot by cops I'd go the latter. It sucks having to do things like this to prevent unwanted attention but sometimes it's better than the inconvenience of defects etc...
