....title is a monty python quote... anyway...

anyone know if it's possible to remove the dinger from under the dash without effecting anything else?

I haven't looked yet, but I'm sick of the chime when i leave the keys in ignition and open the door, and headlights on, etc. etc. so annoying

so yeah anyone know if its safe to unplug?

I had the same problem with mine, i got that pissed off with it that i pulled half the dash out trying to figure out where it was coming from. Anyway if u look up behind the dash above the coin tray ull see a white box. it unclips pretty easy, unplug the plug and pull the white box out. Here comes the fun getting into the box. They dont open easily so u might have to prise it open with a screw driver or cut it open with a hack saw. inside ull see a silver colour speaker type thingy. Get ur screw driver and rip the guts out of it. and the plug it back in and clip it back on that way everything still works and it will get rid of that anoying binging sound. YAY

ive heard that if you pull open the gear selector surrounding, next to the R bit. there is a wire... if you disconect that it shoudl just remove the reverse beep, other alternative is to leave you headlights on auto... that way they turn on and off with the car... thats what i did anyway :spank:

Hey guys i was doing a speaker install (sic) on my S1 on sunday and i found a really simple way to stop the beeps all together, just get under the dash remove the plastic cover and get to where the fuses are.

towards the back right behind a bunch of wires and fuse box you will see a black box with a white wiring plug going into it, i think the box has something like "nissan smart entry system on it" something like that it could be completely different but you will recognize it by its stupid title. If you leave your keys in the ignition with the door open you wont miss where exactly the noise comes from.

pull out the plug (this will stop your central locking/alarm from working) and remove the box , the easiest way into the box is through the top end where the plug normally inserts just get a small screw driver and you can take the plastic surrounding the plug off then remove the circuit board.

the black capacitor looking thing is what makes the noise so all i did was get a adjustable wrench and carefully pried the black dome off. the dome is what housed the speaker so get rid of that and the circuit board thinks it still functions but no noise!!!

put everything back together and your locking should work and no more reversing death!

does not work with turbo timer tho. i did it once by mistake, cause engine still running when you get out and lock the doors. my security light came on, and the sensor turned the lights off in the car.

got inside, when security light turned off the headlights came back on. all night, woke in the moring to a well light driveway.

lucky for a brand new dry cell i put in a week earlier :bunny:

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
