Don't be weak Lee. Cram 17-18psi in to it.

I run a 1bar actuator on my Garrett spec HKS equiv (GT3076r .82 IW) with a bell mouth dump. It tails boost off to 17psi preventing it from making any more peak.

An 18 psi actuator (which should allow 20-21psi) is coming, then I'll eventually get around to fitting it so that will 'should' sort my problems. :ninja:

When's the tune?

Hey cubes how are ya mate. I'm hoping to run 16-17 once tuned which will hopefully be within the next 2 weeks as i'm still waiting on injectors and pump.

If your cramming more boost into your beast you obviously don't like traction 3LTR plus 20-21psi = Lots of torque and wheelspin :P

Traction isn't so bad with the GT3076 .82 on the 3ltr as boost is made pretty much off idle so the power delivery is linear and relative to the throttle.

It doesn't have the lag/doughy feel then bang on to boost sort of feel. More so like a factory turbo setup.

+ better tyres, better suspension setup = more grip = the ability to turn the wick up. :P

As it is now I can get it to hook up fairly well if i want to or I can simply let it rip until I grab fourth. Its all in the right foot. :D

Do you have the .6 or .8 rear on the ProS?

Your beast must be one of the best sleepers in Adelaide. I have the .6 rear ProS, should be well suited to the 2.5 litre i'm hoping.

The .6 will come on hard. :P

Be sure to throw some good tyres at it and angle the front of the cradle down. :D

The RB30det's now done 100,000km's so I'm itching to build up a high comp (9.5-10:1) GT35 or twin 2530's that runs on E85 and drop it in to a cheap GTS4. :D

Yeah i'm hoping it's more suited to a daily driver than the .8 rear.

I'm actually running 265 rears now so tyres are at their optimum. When i purchased my coil overs the guy threw in some donuts for the diff cradle might pay to fit them up me thinks. Twin 25/30's sounds like a bit of fun in a GTS4 plenty of traction. Whats the advantages of E85 more octane ?

Ryan... I'd be suprised if the GT35r .63 came on hard in the low 3000's on the RB25 when driving.

The turbine map shows the GT35r .63 has the same flow/pressure as the GT30 .82. The GT30 .82 on the road with a 25t comes on hard closer to 4000rpm.

At a guess I'd expect you to feel a hard shove in the back by 4k in second gear and 3.6-3.7k in third gear. :P

Sounds like it should be a good package Lee, Probably simular power to what i had, but my top end trailed off a fair bit. Im hoping my .63 reared gt3582r will come on hard around 3-3200rpm. I will miss the response of a turbo like the ProS

Cheers Ryan i'm hoping for a nice all round package out of it. I'll be more than happy with 250rwkw at 14psi doubt it very much tho. Good luck with your new set up mate sounds good.

i dont thikn u will be able to get much more out of the GT3037S then 300rwkw. I think mines about done at the power its making now. Then again it could be the rear housing or the injectors letting me down.

Have fun and thrash the crap out of it legally.

great turbo to have purchased.

I have one on my JZX81 1JZ-GTE. awsome torque and great power throughout the rev range.

Mine makes around 290+rwkw on 16psi.

Then again my engine has a few more toys inside and out.

Will be keeping an eye on your posts to see what you get out of it with Martins skills behind it.

Goodluck

Hey brentogs - you gained some more killerwasps??? i thought it was only making 260's rwkw...(going by your FS thread)?

BTW - My RB24DET + GT3076r IW .63 is making 275rwkw and mate with a S14 with RB25 + GT3076r .63 external gate just made 308rwkw at about 18psi i believe - at MORPOWA

275rwkw is nothing to be sneezed at well done your beast is obviously a well sorted package. What mods is your mate running with the RB25 (has he done head gasket forged internal etc).

cheers

Lee

yeah i think he has 6 boost manifold, greddy plenum, forged pistons, metal head gasket, rb25 intake cam replaced for rb20 intake cam, running a rb20 ecu remapped. (nistune remap i think - tuned by simon at morpowa) - on pump fuel. 550 inj, 044 pump...

i may be able to get a little more i think - i'm going to change my injectors, because the gtr ones are maxed atm, so had to raise the fuel pressure.

Your mate has definately spent the money on making the power thats for sure. What injectors are you going to upgrade to nismo 555's or similar?

Joel, that's a fair effort in a few short years. I'm impressed! If I recall correctly, you had your RB30DET built a little while after my 2.5L. In that time I've covered some 5,000km, if that. Admittedly 2 of those years it did more travelling on the back of flatbed trucks - thankfully by choice, whilst undergoing various modifications.

A .6 housing on a manual RB25DET is 'wheel-spin city', even with good tyres. It can be fun though.

My Stage 3 0.63 Turbonetics rear housing comes on hard, really hard, in the low 4000rpm range - even a traction friendly diff' angle and camber set-up won't stop the 275/40/17 MT ET radials from rotating faster than their cousins up the front.

The HKS 3037 Pro S 0.68 housing will mean you'll have plenty of fun in 2nd gear during daily driving use - nothing the right foot can't control though. The 0.87 housing would be my personal choice, due to the extra top end power potential, but that's only because I wouldn't use it as a daily driver. The 0.87 is good for ~310-320rwkw.

Also, I'd agree with you, Joel. The GT3540 0.63 on a RB25DET will probably see peak boost by ~4000+ (in 2nd). It should also provide the kind of torque curve that produces 3rd gear wheel-spin. I like 3rd gear wheel-spin, it's nice :(

The .6 will come on hard. :)

Be sure to throw some good tyres at it and angle the front of the cradle down.

Wheel spin city sounds fine to me so long as its right foot adjustable. I must admit the quickest Skyline i have actually been in to date was an R32 with 240rwkw (RB20DET) not sure what the mods were but that thing used to be pretty impressive. So if my beast churns out 250ish on Martins dyno i will be more than happy.

  • 2 weeks later...
Well i receiverd my pump and injectors today (was hoping to have them Wednesday). The car is getting tuned on Monday at Willall wish me luck.

haha nice work man, ill see ya at Willall on Monday aswell, My car's done now just waiting for monday...

    • Hi, i’m making a rb25det coil loom for Vag short coil. Can anybody tell me which Ecu signal wire belong to coil number 1 and 2,3,4,5,6? The connecting switch in above pic is 8 wire i think white is for +12v and black for earth.

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
