Dont get a power fc to gain power, power fc just provides much more tuning potential. you might squeeze a few kw's out of it. What mods are you currently running?

errr damo, did you not gain like 35rwkw from a tune with a power fc?

Tuning potential = power gain, power delivery

i gained power coz i upped the boost by 3 psi.

hahahahaha

damo, so michael spend nearly 2 hours taking massive amounts of fuel out and tiding up your timing for no reason?

The way your tune was, if you up the boost by 3psi, you probably would have gain around 5rwkw.

160odd to 200 with 3psi, I wish it was that easy.

^^^^ lol, well i wouldnt spend 1500-2000 on a power fc and tune to get f*#k all results thats just wasting money. Mods i hav are fmic, 500hp fp, 3.5 catback, pod filter, platnium plugs, suspected highflow running 10-12psi mayb others but unsure. I kno that 220kw's seem high for mods, i hav copped heaps of shit from mates bout this so dont bothering telling me but its not like i asked the dyno to give me a high reading lol

The guys are using the "nistune" sytems these days for remaps. Technology has come along way compared to remaps 2 years ago etc. There wouldn't be much difference between this and a power fc in tunability, I chose the power fc simply for the read outs it gives and when you add more mods it is simplier to upgrade the ecu data via the hand controller.

This will give you all the information you will need about the remaps.

what doesn't help is unnecessary input.

put simply

Power FC: get it if you are planning on getting heaps of tunes or you want a hand controller with Live information

Remap: Get it if you want a cheap, quick fix and which does the same job, if not better with knock correction.

As above ^^

I recently became aware of the Nistune Type 4 daughterboard for the R34 RB25DET and had boostworx install and dynotune it. Got like 20-25rwkw without touching boost... a/f was sitting around 10.8 before the remap, and after shuan was done with it, it was around 11.8.

Highly recommend boostworx if you want to do it in SA, Shaun does around 2-3 remaps on skylines a week.

ok so i spoke to shaun at boostworx today and hav decided to get a remapped z32 ecu as he sed it is bout as good as power fc, the fc just has the hand controller which gives it a small advantage. Speedlab never got bak to me so i spose its his loss and my gain as i will end up with something a lil better in my opion

  • 3 weeks later...

ryanrb35, if you had any idea what you were talking about you would stop going on about pfc being so much better that the standard comp... seriously! by you stating a remap as a "quickfix" ur kinda showing ur lack of knowledge! we do 5-6 re-maps a week on average, u cant beat pure facts!

im sorry jeff didnt get back to you man, he is a verry bussy man! lol

are you happy with the price of modding the vg30 comp? (adjusting all the wires and so fawth) jus is kinda going about it the hard way, but if you will be that much happier keeping ur vct then do what makes u happy! :D

have you had it tuned yet? what did it make? hopfully it turned out that u had a hi-flow on there...

    • Sorry, are coilovers ACTUALLY ILLEGAL in NSW? They aren't in Vic, as long as they retain 70% of stock travel and the car is above 100mm off the ground. Does NSW actually have a law making coilovers actually illegal? RWC/Blue Slip/Engineering people not knowing the actual f**king laws boils my blood. Demand them to point to the documentation that states a coilover is illegal. (it may exist in NSW )
    • But seriously, can we ask for the results of the "tip a bottle of metho into a nearly empty tank" experiment?
    • Hang on. Let me get this straight. The desire is to have coilovers, BC in particular, to be MORE comfortable on Sydney roads than stock suspension? Well, that's obviously not right. BCs have crude damping design at the very best, and typically hard spring rates. BC stands for Billy Cart. And then, the desire is to put in some shitty old worn out stockers, to get it blue slipped and then put the BCs back in? And then.....what? Not worry about getting pulled up by the Plod? Because you seem to have raised a worry about paying for engineering (which actually does solve all your legality problems) and still getting pulled up.... but the only problem there is that if/when that happens you have to show your paperwork at the inspection station. Whereas, if you just swap in borrowed shitty old stockers to get it slipped now, and then you get defected in the future, you have to go find more shitty old stockers then too. You course of action looks like this set of options: Buy brand new stock type dampers, and springs. probably cost a bit more than $1k all up, but will last for the remaining life of the car. Put them in, pass inspection, drive on them forever more. Hell, they could even be really nice Bilsteins and Kings or other lower&stiffer springs if you wanted. Get the car engineered as is. ~$1k. Buy new Shockworks coilvers (or MCA) and also pay for engineering. You're spending a lot more here. But these will be the best things that you could drive around on.
    • Might be worthwhile hitting up Facebook's groups, I know most of them contain terrible people and scammers - however you might be able to find someone that's in Sydney with factory suspension you could purchase and/or hire. Just do not send any form of money anywhere, in person cash only.
