Hey guys, just wondering for a bit of advice.

Just got approved for a 20k secured loan threw my bank (westpac) but secured means i cant buy anything like skylines or silvias or what eva :S

Purchase or refinance a used car (excludes imported second hand motor vehicles which are not imported to Australia by the manufacturer. A valuation must be available through Redbook.com.au).

it says ^^ on westpac site.

so that means i cant buy anything imported? so... no skylines no 300zx's no silvias. all the cars i like :D

He means, what if you wanna buy a Skyline but and its already in AUS, already at a Australian Import Dealer... Will the bank give you the OK?

Maybe this part of the first post will answer the question.

Why not see if you can find an Australian delivered R32 GT-R? That would comply with the rules. You could get an Aussie S14 or S15 for that money, if you want a Silvia (I wouldn't spend $20K on an S13).

Your other option is to go Euro. I found a 2000 model 323Ci for $20K. It won't have the balls of a Japanese turbo, and its a slusho, but it'll have the right handling dynamics and be less of a cop magnet. If you do get a 3 Series, for god's sake get a 6 cylinder at least.

There are some Z3s going around for that price too, but those things handled like poo.

DC2R

S14A

ST205 GT4

SW20 (not sure if there were any AUS turbo ones)

WRX's of all kinds

300zx (again.. not sure of any aus turbo ones)

GSR (with evo conversion)

Plenty of cars to choose from.

Why would you get a 20k loan for a car, when you dont know what kind of car you want? Wouldn't it have been easier to pick the car you want, then got the exact money that you needed for it and used a bank that would give you the money for the car that you wanted?

    • Would be good in the future if you can also get EMAP data. Would make choosing a turbo easier for some.

About MX5's, the smart money is on the NC, specifically the NC2 if your budget goes that far, and with MX5 pricing that's pretty much where they go. Occasionally you see them pop up with tasteful mods like suspension and such, but the NC2 is the quiet sleeper of the range in terms of overall goodness.
    • The housing it self made minimum differences, while the exhaust manifold made a difference. 6 Boost T3 divided will do fine. ATR43SS3ProR model in T3 .82 rear (TS optional) from March 25th will be more then capable of 450whp with excellent response.
    • The boy crashed his Patrol a while ago, so he is now driving his mum's ASX and she is driving my Honda I initially said he could have the Honda to drive around (he's a good kid currently training at the police academy), but, his mum was quick in saying that he "will" take the ASX and she will take the Honda, he was a bit upset with that, he rates the manual Honda more than the automatic ASX (mums taxi), and I'm getting the feeling she enjoys thrashing the manual Honda around In other news, I'm looking at a MX5 NB series 2 on Saturday  I always loved my NB series 1, but after stripping it down because I'm a idiot it wasn't fun cruising or driving around daily, and Jackie refused to drive it, which was an issue if we went out, because her refusing to drive it meant I lost my designated driver if we went to a party, or dinner, or...... basically anywhere where I could get a glow on Yes yes, I may need a new job if I decide to buy https://www.seek.com.au/apprentice-hairdresser-jobs/in-All-Sydney-NSW Plus giving the Honda to the boy, which is my cunning plan, will give me enough wifey type credits to turn up in another car Meh
