Hey guys,

after thinking about selling my R33 i decided to keep it and finally take it for a drive hence i was only driving it only 1 to 3 times a fortnight, but anyway, i noticed my oil pressure gauge was at the point where it was almost at 0, i paniced and pulled over and checked my oil and it was full, noticed my engine was still nice and quiet as well, it stayed like this for a little bit and then all of a sudden it started to pick up again and started acting normal, well i parked the car and took it for another drive it was ok and then it dropped to 0, is this a problem with my motor or with the gauge????

wouldn't i be seeing other signs if i oil pump was going, the car runs smooth like it does every day......how can i check if it is my oil pump????? could it be a faulty cluster hence my speedo seems to drop out every once in a while???? but when i tap it, it goes back????? so how would i check this problem???

senders play up a fair bit too.

only way to know for sure, is to fit a mechanical oil pressure gauge to the block oil pressure sensor port and have a look at the actual pressure before you panic to much.

is it only on idle rpm that it sits low or all the time?

i know it could be either a oil pressure sensor,or the oil pump or the dodgy factory gauge, but can it play part in what oil you use as well, i have been using motul 4100 15w semi senthetic oil for the past 5 services, which i service the car every 5,000km. is this oil to thin or too thick for the rb25det???? i dunno it might just be the problem, what oil would you recommend for a rb25det?????

hey mate yea only on idle then seems to go normal but sometimes on idle its normal its an on and off type of thing

I would be concerned about having bad bearings if your getting low oil pressure on idle... You need to get a mechanical guage on that car ASAP!

see the thing is sometimes its low and sometimes its high....and when you say bad bearings which bearings are you refering too???? and does anyone have any pics or anything on where i can locate my oil pump and oil pump sensor i am still kind of new to these type of situations????? thanks

    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
