I bought this brand new in feb 07 and used it in 2 targa tasmania's. During this years (08) the front oil seal/ring failed causing a lot of smoke off throttle.

I had the turbo disassembled locally and it was found to be in near perfect condition internally. I have just sent it to GCG for assembly and a new seal.......thinking about $500. There is where it gets interesting - GCG reckons it needs new bearings ($400+ being cautious or ?) and other work as well, totalling aprox $1,100.

The turbo is for sale because:

1. I think I am not getting good or right advice from GCG and I'm not in the position to do any thing about it.

2. The turbo is too big for a RB20 for TARMAC RALLIES. Great for street, drag or circuit use.

3. I'm going to run a smaller steel wheeled turbo ora standard R34 in future.

This a DIRECT BOLT ON and would suit someone who knowledge in tubo assembly. I can provide dyno sheets making 210 rwKW on standard RB20 with stock intercooler, injectors exhaust manifold. Mods are Haltec E11v2, GTR pump, adj reg, split dump and 3" exhaust run on 98 oct at 1.1 bar.

Don't bother with crazy offers pls......at this price I'll donate to local TAFE school.

I'll also gurantee/ money back the turbo after inspection on arrival that it is as per described above - less $50 for post and packaging post costs.

This is a PM I sent re turbo, it may help with others that are asking similar questions.

It is a turbo off a RB20 and as such is not a 1 or 2.

It has been hi-flowed, where the inside are machined out and made to flow much more air, also a bigger (steel not ceramic) turbine wheel than standard which can take much more boost than a ceramic wheeled turbo. The end result is a far bit bigger performance than either a 25 series 1 or 2. The other big advantage is that it is a bolt–on to existing R32 or R33. The cost of these turbos new are around $2000 exchange, or a Garrett equivalent with all the adaptors and lines and it will be $2600 or a HKS or Trust will set you back about $3500

If it was rebuilt it would be around $1400

It would be good on yours, heaps more power but more laggy.

Hope this helps
