Hey guys,

Just after the opinions of anyone who has had experience with fitting rims or tyres of these dimensions.

I've bought some 18x10 +12 GTCs for my R33 GT-R, and before getting tyres I've tried mounting the rims to the rear hubs. They stick out a fair bit - see the pics below - but I've been told with the independent rear suspension they should tuck in under the guards when the car is lowered off the jack.

The car has TEIN coil overs set about 1" below standard ride height. I'm planning to fit 265/35 18 tyres, and really do not want to roll the guards if I can get away with it.

All advice appreciated

Cheers,

Matt

I had 18 x 10 + 18 running 235/40/R18 on my R33 GTR and they cleared the guards no problems, in fact they barely filled the guards but that might have been due to my small tyres

265 is quiet big though, not certain if they will clear or not

Now I'm running 18 x 10 - 1 with 235/40 tyres again and they JUST just under the the front and rear guards. I have just pushed the inner lip up a little bit on the rear guards, front still has guard liners

Just a whole bunch of information, hopefully that gives you a better idea

Thanks abu, this does help mate. 18x10 -1 !! :P Is that photo of your -1s or +18s? Have you got camber adjustment or any other suspension mods?

Cheers,

Matt

hehe na no adjustable arms or anything, just has ZEAL coilovers and slammed. The back can go another 4cm lower but I think I will leave it there, half the tyre is tucked into the guard. Thinking about getting adjustable arms and dialing the camber out for a tighter fit, would look tuff..

Fronts have adjustable camber bushes but I haven't taken it in for an alignment, I am going to get some more neg camber dialed in at the front although I like the way the fitment is at the moment. There set to standard specs

Photo is of 18 x 10 - 1 with 235/40/R18 tyres :P

hey mate,

I run Work XD9s 18 x 10 +18 with 275s all around. Easily fit under the gaurds at the back. at the front had light srcubbing to start with but all fine now... The rear is standered hight the front is an inch lower.

got a side on shot ABU??

Get an alignment soon man. I went from 18x9.5 +30 to 18x9.5 +12's and didnt get an alignment for ~500k's and already noticed camber wear

Not at the moment man, I am getting the wheels re coated in 2 weeks then I might get a chance to get some pictures

Have no license at the moment so car is just sitting in the garage, most of the interior is stripped while I finish the stereo install but will get some ASAP. It's not get driven for the next 5 months so alignment isn't really a priority but I will get it done.. it drives straight and shit I just wanted to get them to dial some more camber and toe in at the front otherwise its spot on

235's on 10"

hehehe abu

:)

    • So for the wide band is a Bosch 4.9 correct for the Link G4+ along with a Can bus? Just get the Link gear or is generic ok too? Eg here: LINK LINK DIGITAL WIDEBAND CAN MODULE WITH BOSCH 4.9 SENSOR : KYP Performance House
    • Bit difficult to follow. Have a look below and see what the standard R32 layout was like. Note there was a restrictor in place immediately before "turbocharged pressure control solenoid" that, if removed, magically got you 1 bar boost.
    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
