Hey Lads and Lasses!

Well, to cut a long story short. At the pub. X amount of beers later. We began planning a road trip from Sydney to Tasmania looking to drive the best driving roads the East Coast has to offer.

We then found Tasmania was going to cost too much due to the boat. So, we changed it to SA.

3 cars, 6 people. (12A Mazda Capella, Rb25 R32, 4G63 VR4)

We are taking a little more than 2 weeks in January to give my mate enough time to finish a rotory conversion, give me time to finish a couple of projects and the third mate time to change a head gasket.

I heard that SA has an awesome togue scene. Is this true? Care there many good twisties around Adelade? We also wanted to go to Lake Eyre. Is it accessible to the public? We were under the impression we could just rock up and have a play. Is this true?

Where is there to drive to? What roads?

We are looking for mountain passes, coast roads etc.

Where are the common places where people gather to meet and drive to? We want to meet people, experince the scene, drive some different roads etc.

So where are the popular places to go for a drive to? Cruise or spirited drive?

Where to sleep?

Any good places to go camping? We are sleeping where we can find to save money on accomodation.

Is there any beaches?

Where is there to go out to?

Where is there to go get a good beer? Pub or clubs. Tips on where to go and what kind of music/people there are. We are all 20-21 so where would you guys recommend to go?

What will I need?

I am guessing many of you guys have gone for a road trip. Is there any tips you guys can give on what to bring? Some helpful hints to do some ghetto mods/repairs on the side of the road? Yes yes.. there will be many many cable ties (plastic and metal) and duct tape.. sooo much duct tape.

Any ideas/tips/advice you guys can give please chip in guys!

Cheers,

Cris

Yeah Tent city in the western parklands is free and totally goes off at night (dont go there).

Avoid Hindley st like the plague and you'll be alright. For entertainment, we have 2 big silver balls in rundle mall and metal cops which for some chromed out politician constitutes as art... but in all seriousness theres the same stuff here to do as other places, nice beaches, decent wineries in the valley, a nice freeway that cuts thru the southeastern hills... loads of wild restaurants..

I'd highly recommend travelling to the east coast of victoria and then driving thru mount hotham, bright, myrtleford, wangaratta, echuca, mildura, berri and then down past truro into adelaide. would be a nice varied drive, with loads of twisties around mt hotham.. i could almost write a food tour rally but i forget the names of all the kick arse country bakeries in country victoria... mmm venison pies

atm the car scene is pretty dead. but with petrol getting cheaper and warmer weather during summer, it will pick up again. unfortunately theres no coastal roads really. just gay speed bumps as far as the eye can see. the hills here are awesome tho. only 10 mins from town. not many cruises go that way anymore, but some of the older members will know the roads. and i dont mind showing u a few awesome runs.

clubs and shit.. the city is so dense, 10 mins walking distance from one side of the city to the other. HQ is the biggest club here and all in all, has a good atmosphere, turn out each week. but yeah theres plenty of places everywhere in walking distance, so go for a walk and see what u can sus.

accomodation.. theres places everywhere, try to get somewhere close to town tho seeing it will be easier to get around.

IS there comething called "the Curchie"? "Church"? Something along those lines? An old church that was turned into a club? I'd like to go there, more so for the novelty. I have always wanted to go to a club in a church, big staind windows etc.

And is it Lake Eyre that has the tryed out salt flats?

church closed down earlier this year. was a bit of a hole anyway, with bogans and $2 slurries there coz it was free entry.

however theres another place almost identical called the London Tav or i think its call The London now to sound classy. Same crowd tho. chicks with more kids than teeth. anywhere decent has a entry fee.

Lake Eyre.. i live here and not sure where that is, sounds familiar tho. i dont think its near by however.

dude and apparently over here devon is called fritz, i nearly got into a fight over it when i fisrt moved here. going through bathurst way was nuts even in the 4wd, and lake eyre i dont beleive is assecible by road. my 2 cents and all the best guys hope you have a f*cking good trip. and the mars bar hmmm, cant say ive ever ended up there while i was in adelaide drunk.

cheers... michael

anyway quick, genuine run down of clubs/bars..

depends on what type of music u like.

CLUBS

-hq - biggest club in adelaide. sat nite is dance, and wed nite is back in the day stuff and a theme. if u like 1000's of people in the same place, check it out.

-electric circus - electro and pretty funky. hard to find and massive line up, can be worth it tho.

-swish - hotel they convert into a club at nite, drinks are generally good and mix of music. always pretty packed so usually a line. again worth it if u can be bothered. on friday they play only 90's music. all the guys go emo, cry and never go, so its like 5 chicks to 1 guy, giggidy.

-the london - like i said, free and bogan-ish. similar music to swish, but they thrash out the pop, cant stand it at times.

-bar rouge - wog city, all it needs is a portable yiros stand, like a hotdog stand. pretty electro/dance. some of the hottest chicks go there, but u will prob be the only white guy in there these days.

-red square - R&B and some back in the day. doesnt really take my fancy but its popular, usually a line.

-club 58 - free, slowly becoming like the london. but play awesome dance music. has a balcony on hindley (main) street, so not a bad chill out place.

-wool shed - generally a country place with hell country bumkins. they have a mechanical bull. and upstairs is pop music if ur into that.

-mars - its a gay bar dude  full of drag queens. its away from the other clubs so u wont accidentally stumble in there.

PUBS

-basically go down Rundle street and its pub after pub. some fancy places like Fumo Blu, all round good places like Belguim Beer Cafe, and some bogan places like The Stag or PJ's. whatever takes ur fancy i guess. lots of restaurants on that street too.

 Cheers Steve.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated!

CLUBS

-hq - Hate crowded clubs with a passion

-electric circus - Love electro. Ill have to see what others think

-swish - 5 to 1 ratio? Can't go wrong! I think the other boys will want to go here.. their not huge clubbers.

-the london - Flat out no.

-bar rouge - Definately not.

-red square - Less chance than Rouge

-club 58 - Perhaps kick off there

-wool shed - Dont mind country people, always a good yarn, but a little over it since I go to bathurst for uni

-mars - Dunno.. lol. see how many drinks I had! bahahah

Keep em comming guys!

What roads are there to drive on? Togue roads?

club wise i would recomend electric circus or rocket bar

sleep wise depends on what you want? there are plenty of motels around the end of the freeway ($75ish a night), relatively safe area to leave your car in the motel and you are 3 minutes drive away from some of the best roads in the country

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
