ok, had my car finally finished http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...79#entry4293079

Not overly happy with power result but tuner wants me to run it for a few weeks and then bring it back to lean on it a bit more.

Few questions:

1. I have an Apexi boost gauge and water temp gauge that were on the a-pillar and running through an apexi gauge contoller and fuller working.

shop suggested i move it from the a-pillar to the top of dash in a nismo holder because a-pillar illegal.

No problems, it gets moved and the apexi oil temp gauge that was mounted solo gets put into holder.

Now pick car up - oil temp not working, waiting on a splitter to run through gauge controller - no dramas.

Water temp works fine, controlled through the gauge controller as before.

Boost gauge however, does its start up check (gauge swings from left to right and back), the needle lights up, but does not register/read any boost (stays at rest point) and when I turn headlights on, back ground does not light up as it used to either.

Any suggestions what the issue could be? The EVC6 was installed so maybe this could explain why not reading boost, but the back ground lighting not working is weird. Also the gauge controller 'peak' and 'warn' functions do not work on the boost gauge anymore. Water temp works as it should.

2. I supplied a HKS adjustable fuel reg and the adapter. When pick up car, was told, will not fit with standard fuel rail, so a nismo one put on. I will sort out the cost difference in my favour but wondering if this is actually the case. Also told the nismo one bolts straight onto the fuel rail and no extra fittings needed??

3. Is it usual for when the car starts for the knock to go to like 100 odd. When it runs the most I have seen even under full accel to 7,500 rpm, is 21 and usually well under 20, but after start up when I hit the recall peak, it sometimes reads like 100 odd, but then other times it reads 1 or 2 before I reset.

I am not sure actually whether it is start up or turn off that causes the knock, but definately not when running. Does the pfc reset when engine turned off which then means the high knock read is coming on start up?

Asked shop about this before I had mods done (about resetting PFC monitoring after start up) and was told no need and if there is large knock on start up, the engine bearings are f**ked?? I hope this is wrong!

4. from above link, you will see all my mods, 380 hp at 17.1 psi odd seems a little low I reckon given all the other results in the sticky? any comments, ill post the graph up asap. Also I have noticed that setting B on the EVC has max boost at 18.1 PSI but it never gets there, the most I have seen is 17.1 and the tuner did say this was what he had set it at. Is there any internal setting other than setting A & B (low and high boost) that will limit the boost regardless of what low and high is set at?

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
