...eeech, I just realised how dirty my wheels were. I think I might need to go get a wash myself.

Had a run in with a very sturdy post yesterday whilst reversing out of the car wash place. Yes it was after I washed the car and dried it. Yes I have insurance. Yes, I'm an idiot.

Just thought I'd share. :)

a combination of bad luck, inattention and concentration loss; we've all done it. of course, this doesn't make it any easier. don't you hate that "crunching " sound, even before you inspect the damage, you know it is going to cost $$$. no, you are not an idiot, but we all feel pretty stupid after an incident like this. I know I did!!!. the good part of your story is that nobody was injured. good luck with the upcoming repairs.

Thanks. This is only the 2nd bingle i've had since driving in my entire life so i suppose i should count myself lucky.

+1 for the R34 front end conversion.

When will these be available locally from a supplier in Australia at a reasonable cost? MASA Copies?

I did see some aftermarket front guards (vented I think) available on Ebay (Australia) a couple of weeks ago.

Well, the body panel shop had a look at the damage yesterday, looks like i'll definitely be going through my insurance company. He (body panel guy) said i'll need a new front bar and right guard. I've told him it's a Dayz front bar. Should I leave it to him to source the parts or steer him in the right direction? Any recommendations? Oh yeah, and I should be able to keep the old Dayz front bar...

They are available now, just not well advertised

Steer the panel shop in the right direct, otherwise the insurance company will get the cheapest option they can.

Your Dayz front bar should have a part number moulded in the back of it. make sure the quote includes the right parts.

If you get to keep your old front bar, get a mould made of it and do all the sad series 2 owners a favour.

Talk to CCubed (andrew) about getting a mould made or a R34 kit if you are interested.

In my drive, which is angled up hill from the property, on the nature strip I installed a really neat solar (God I am an enviromentalist and didn't know it)

light, and the bloody Postman farked it while reversing out after delivering a new bit for the S1.

It happens.

After speaking to insurance assessor and panel beater, I'm going to get a new Dayz front bar (they couldn't find a 2nd hand one anywhere) and panel jobbie fixed in Jan 09 so all's well. Apart from having to pay my excess ofcourse. I've told him i want the front bar back too.

I wonder where he's ordering the new bar from? Wasn't aware they still made them.

Hugh.. sheesh, you're not having much luck with the S1 are you?

    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
    • Probably. I take it that they are also mentioned to be for R34 Skyline? For example.... RDA has that part as RDA7957. I have the dimpled and slotted version of that on my car https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/285518478694?srsltid=AfmBOopKxMuAFpsxZJdB1cam4D5RAj1f9yJyOttPZLAwXVNCOiwlhrIy This is DBA's top one piece equivalent https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364246686631?srsltid=AfmBOorbb0XHQgqTvZLgQPhg70nqJtGvdojKnugum3O2LFSr2h-obp8D
