Sorry to hear mate..

Insurance should cover you from the date the policy was agreed on. Just make sure you pay it asap.

Has it been reported to police? Insurance will need a police report, to verify when the accident happened, and various details.

It may not be worth claiming though, depending on damage and your excess amounts.

Ring JC and ask, they were very helpful with me everytime I rang with a question.

Hope the rest of your Xmas was merry!!

yeah i was thinking of just fixing it myself so that i dont have any claims marked on my history..but yeah i think i may give damage control a go seeing as it is only the next suberb away...its just come at a bad time for me money wise (like everything else right).

thanks for the help ppl. much app.

with just cars excess being as high as it is

it will probably work out cheaper getting it fixed yourself

depending on how hard you hit the curb you could have bent a number of steering arms/suspension etc etc

take it up to WA suspensions and get them to have a look if anything is bent etc

if its going to cost over say 2/2.5 k to fix then think about making an insurance claim

bit of a bummer about it happening at xmas time but good luck

this happened due to lack of concentration, but im glad i didnt injure any one or damage any property...i have had a look underneath it i can only see one bar that is badly bent..so im hoping its just that for now..i scratched along one of the massive curbs then the front wheel must of smashed sideways on the begining of a new curb just after a storm drain while i was trying to turn away...thats wat i think happen anyways..hmmm..:)

know how you feel man. had this happened to me before but mine was because my tyres were bald, went round the corner when its wet, understeered then hit the kerb pretty hard. when i put it on the hoist, my lower control arm was bent. my wheel which took the hit is damaged as well. put it on the balancing machine you can clearly see it moving around. had a new control arm fitted since, lucky none of the other components were damaged and got a wheel alignment done. wheels still buckeld tho.

i cant remember but the control arm costs close to $300 but that was with trade price and got one of the mechanics at Nissan to install it; getting a mechanic to install it should be around 150 but im not sure on that one. got my wheel alignment done at wa suspensions and that costs bout 90. havent done anything to my rims yet tho. have you checked the rest of the suspension components?

how much did that set you back nick?

    • You'd want to cap off the re-entry back into the dump too. Just something flat that can be held on by the Vband.
    • Thanks for the recap Matt Z. It was a great day out and I know you have said it already, but we couldn’t have done it without the volunteers.
    • Couldn't agree anymore, massive thanks to all that came by, helped out, or those who just wanted to talk cars. You are the community that make this such a great car club. cant wait for what we have planned for the future
    • Looking at the photos, you could easily just drop this pipe and dump into atmosphere  Just 1 or 2 quick hits for data acquisition - if have a heat shield material and/or sheet metal, maybe just use wire/metal cable ties and attach it in a way to deflect heat from melting nearby wires.
