When someone has some time... can you please check what voltages yours is reading

@ 1000-1100 rpm when warm, with no throttle input

Ive got a bung AFM, however not sure which one :D

Im getting the below via PFC

AFM 1: 0.8~1.1v

AFM 2: 1.2~1.4v

So i'm trying to workout which one is fked before i go pulling it all apart and save myself the hassle of pulling the working one out first :D

Car stalls when i pull both out too which is odd and not helping me check which one is playing up as ive done it previous and the car idled fine without load like it should.

Could also be loom which will be check #2 after i get another AFM over the weekend

Cheers all.

I don't really understand. You said it stalls when you disconnect both (of course) but what if you disconnect just one?

generally if that doesn't tell you, give it a rev and the one that is slower to respond is the dying one.

Ye i disconnect one (or the other) and it dies too... pain in the ass thing as it didnt do that with the other AFM's in there so i dunno. I think its running that bad before i pull the AFM out (on cold start) that it stalls as its just getting the really wrong signal

hah, i just happened to have the workshop manual open at this time and skimming through it states that the voltages should be between 1-1.5v.. so does that mean the first one is out?

fk... thats the hardest one to get too :(

Although thats a fair gap in volts... suppose they gotta allow for everything

Thanks for checking :)

Consult reports my ones at 0.9v and 1.1v - If you can log the output then that should tell you.

IIRC its supposed to run in a limp home mode if one of the AFMs is down (factory ECU, dunno about FC)

Hey nismoid just wondering on how you went with the voltages?

i thought my problem was related to my loom but i was wrong. Ive just replaced my bottom AFM with a spare i borrowed of a mate, but my voltages are different? im not sure what they were before though.

so at the moment they read

@ ~ 1400RPM (cold start idle)

AFM1 = 1.20 ~ 1.23v

AFM2 = 1.06 ~ 1.10v

AFM2 is the "good 1" (if there is even such a thing as a good AFM)

AFM1 is the 1 i've borrowed of a mate.

now clearly those readings are no where near each other? and this is a problem?

just curious the hear what some1 "good AFMs" are reading?

My loom has arrived @ Nissan, i haven't picked it up yet though so i cant confirm 100%

However if yours isn't dropping below 1.05-1.10 then that i think is ok, mine drops below 0.80-1.00v and hence sometimes the PFC is thinking the AFM had died when i dont thin it actually has.

I should have the loom replaced in a week or two. PM me then... ill probably forget the thread is here haha

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
