hey guys, i just watched the news and they are talkin bout hooning and shit again, particularly about p-platers. this time, they are talkin about bringing in crushing-the-hooner's-cars laws if they were caught. more undercover cops will be around this time as well. on the news, they also show a done up commodore being crushed and evos and fc rx7s being confiscated, luckily no skylines on the video. as usual they showed the blue S15 doin doughnuts video again and surprisingly, a pulsar doin FWD burnouts as well.

k now i have no problem with people who do the wrong thing being punished but from what little i know this whole hoon law thing is a bit ambiguous for the total confiscation of someones car

and as for crushing what a waste of time hows about you auction it off and use the funds for better roads, education, helping out victims of road accidents etc

and while im on my soapbox lets stop bothering about afew burnouts and deal harsher with the serious problems like drink drivers and road ragers take their cars off them damn it

I think they said on the third offence (or after the third offence not sure which) they will either crush the car, auction it off or use it in undercover operations. I just reckon it's scare tactics, would get contested in court immediately and no doubt the cops would lose the case. It is stupid anyway as people who fall into that situation would be more likely to try and getaway from the cops and be even more reckless doing so knowing their car would get confiscated/crushed if they get caught.

Apparently they're also starting a new operation using "hoon" like vehicles with plain clothed police officers who will no doubt be entrapping people to street race putting the public at risk. It's a shame our police force wastes an enormous amount of resources on such a minor demographic when it could be done much more effectively with less resources and especially when it should really be going towards more important things like burglary... if you call the cops after your house has been robbed (or even if you catch the thief yourself) the cops will take their sweet arse time getting there (hours) but I bet if you made a phone call about hearing a "hoon" they'd be there within minutes.

Not to mention the hoon law is complete crap in the first place and is basically a free pass for the power trip cops to do as they please.

Nah, the fact that "hoons" take priorities over murderers is GREAT!! Anytime we have paint sniffing natives at work (I'm not racist) we just tell the cops there is also someone doing burnouts in the carpark. Then they take the 2 minute drive from the cop shop and move them along. /sarcasm

Ok, it takes 40 minutes, they need to get their priorities right, but thats for another thread.

Honestly, cops trying to race you is just f**ked up. Why waste time, money, and effort to encourage people to do something dangerous in the attempt to "save" lives? Try going after the dickhead I saw the yesterday fish tailing up Mirrabooka Avenue in a red Ford AU Falcon who ended up doing a full 180. Imo THAT is more dangerous then 2 cars (one driven by a cop) doing 140 in a 100 zone!

Also, if you get hoonlawed 3 times, you deserve to be shot! Sorry, but thats just stupid!

yeah i saw sorta the same story the other night but it was about how people are setting up illegal drag and burnout meets

on the outer parts of perth, nice one from the blue rb powered s13 but the reason for the news bit was coz someone who

remains annonymous handed over his info on the whole scene, must have had a bad day with his car buddies an decided

to help end hoons, dunno how many mates he's got left now

Fairly sure i had a cop trying to get me to race him once, old falcon (super old like XYish age), dude was spinning his finger as in like "smoke it up" or whatever and was spinning the back tyres waiting for the lights when i noticed a commodore behind me, i took off slowly when the other guy launched and when i turned off i noticed the car behind me was an undercover car surprised me the undercover didnt chase the other guy and i didnt think much of it.

Just saw yet another "hoon law" article. Almost every clip was shot at Barbagallo either at the drifts or at Powercruise, and interviews of not-so-intelligent people saying how they don't think burnouts are illegal.

They were also talking about the poor 16yo girl who died in the 180SX crash. What about the 20+ people died on the road over the Christmas season? As far as I know, only 2 people have died in a performance car in the last 6 months or so, one was doing the speed limit, yet was still made out to be the bad guy.

Exactly, because of australias aging population cracking down on "hoons" is a great win with the public. They dont even really care about what the hoon legislation does as they dont really understand it that much and most of them drive 60 in an 80 "because thats safer". The fact is Politicians only care because it gets them votes, and hence gets them paid.

We'll be old one day. I wonder if we will still disapprove?

Man I swear this hoon crap pops on a monthly basis.

It pops up for a while & disappears, & repeat...

Also does anyone have the link to that "new" hoon video on the news that you guys are talking about?

I stopped watching AU TV the minute I found out how to BT.

The old folks who can't drive over 60km/h in their 3 cylinder Charades who complain when us young hoons "flog" it off the lights in our stupidly-loud "hoon cars". I shift at 3000rpm and still leave the 1.5L shit boxes behind. And yet... I'm the bad guy?

Of course you are the bad guy! His old therefore he can't be the bad guy... nah jokes ;)

But thats how these people think anyway.

I remember a while back while I was waiting at Nandos I was flicking through the pile of newspaper there & found this article where it talks about how the cops found a holden ute doing close to 100km/h in a 40 zone so they stopped the ute & did the hoon law on him & took his car away.

The problem is the driver is a 70yr old flamin mongrel, who started complaining to the cops, & he even made the remark that he is a good driver & that the hoon laws shouldn't target people like him (coz his old), it should target younger drivers & their cars.

Some f***** nerve his got to speak like that, he even mentioned that his going to court regarding this matter & getting his car back.

If you ask me, if they do bring in the crushing a hoon's car law here, the cops should crush his car asap & ban him from driving for life.

His attitude totally pisses me off :D

End rant.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
